About Me: I'm a student at IUPUI. I'm a proud mother, and a loving wife. I'm here to meet people who share common likes and veiws. I'm also here to be inspired. I love the world of Fae and I'm working, very slowly, on a book, hoping maybe one day it could be published. I love art, (but I'm no artist) mythology, history, writing, reading and daydreaming.
    Music: Lots
Movies: The Princess Bride,The Fifth Element, Bridget Jones' Diary, Labryinth, Hackers, Empire Records, Ever After, Cassanova, Jumper, A knight's tale, Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, Transformers and many, many more...
I do love the Harry Potter movies, but I love the books so much more.
TV: The Closer, Fringe, Lie to Me, House, Dollhouse, Eastwick, Bones, and all those cute little shows on Disney and Nickelodeon
Books: The Hary Potter series, The Inkheart series, The Wicked series, Kindling the Celtic Spirit, Tithe, The Faery Reel,The White Queen, and more...
Likes: I like keeping my head in the clouds, mythology and anything Fae related. I love dragonflies. I adore any fantasy artist, as they have all inspired me in one way or another.
Dislikes: I dislike coming back down from the clouds, and way too much more to mention.
Hobbies: I like reading, writing and being creative.
Vices: Socks and sandals. A fork scraping a plate (the whole nail-and-chalk-board-thing).
Heroes: My husband, and my kids.

Okay, so I've been working of a book for about three years now inbetween semesters. Just when I think I'm done, I read back through it and find more I should add. It's tedious, but I love it. I love what I've been able to come up with. The ideas and people are so exciting. I just wish my world and charachters were real. I wish I could meet them in person. I feel star-struck.

Nothing makes me happier than writing (besides my children, of course). Someone once asked me where I get my insiration from, and I was so dumbfounded that I didn't really give a good answer. But the truth is, I get a lot of my inspiration from places like this and all the wonderful people here. All the beautiful art and melodic music really puts me in the mood and brings me to another world. Your inspiration gives me inspiration, and what could be better? That's why we're here, to be inspired by each other.

    Bless you Enchanted Folk members!

Thank you for your compliment :)
I was very happy and excited about how the article turned out.

I missed this blog when you first posted it back in June, but I loved what you said about inspiration. I get asked that question often (as I am sure most people in creative fields do) and I never feel like I answer it well, either *_*, but you are very right, I feel inspired by many people here, too!

I wish you the best with your book,
    Susan

    Writers, publishers and agents...

Sunday, May 17, 2009, 02:53 PM EST [General]

Please forgive my silliness. I am serching for answers as to how to go about getting a book published, or even looked at. I have gotten mixed advice and I am calling upon my enchanted friends to lead me in the right direction. Do I contact an agent or a publisher first? Should I seek out my own editor and illustrator? The book is a young adult fiction which is sort of similar to the Narnia and Inkheart series'. Any advice?

The fear of rejection is what holds me back the most... please help.

If I can be of any help -- I'm a small-press publisher by avocation, specializing in children's books that are Faerie or pagan-oriented. If this is your first book, I recommend sending it to a Publisher first. If they choose to publish it and make an offer, you can then contact agents to find someone to get abetter offer or to negotiate the best deal -- Agents will climb over each other to represent an author who has a guaranteed sale. (Grin!)
Of course, having given this advice, you will also have to be prepared for rejection, which happens far more often. (I know, I have a collection of rejection slips for each and every professional sale I've ever made.) I'd be happy to take a look at the manuscript and give you and opinion on its publishability...

I have found a new way of life! I'm so excited about it. Finding it is one thing, acting on it is another all together. I've decided to act on this new way of life fully, whereas in the past I had only thought about it. And if all goes well, my family and I should undergo some more changes as well. I'm excited to see what th future will bring! :)

Your status reads "Thank the gods for spring," this morning. Oh, how I WISH we had some Spring weather -- here in NE Pennsylvania, we seem to have skipped Spring and gone straight to High Summer! The temps have hovered near or at 90 degrees since Friday!

Welcome Audrey! I am a recent member myself. As you must have learned, when creativity is bubbling through you, you must heed the call, because it seems to have a time table of its own. That must be hard to balance when you are in school. So much to do and experiment with and never enough time when it is upon you!!! I look forward to seeing some of your work!
