About Me:I'm a 25 year old fantasy illustrator from Denton Tx. I'm happily taken, and share my home with my soon-to-be husband David, my newborn daughter Morrigan, two cats (Gooey and Crowley), two rats (Bela and Morticia), and four happy little turtles (Gamera, Vincent, Gir, and Scuter). We are collectors of things - books of all kinds, music, movies, and video games. David is a musician and artist as well, and he plays guitar in a death metal band - Benevolence. We're mostly just a bunch of nerds, science fiction fans and con goers. I love Sci-Fi/Fantasy Conventions, and ran one while in college. Feel free to IM me on Y!IM My screen name is battlemaidenart

First off, I'm taking custom orders for paintings for the holidays at very low prices. All details can be found on my Myspace Blog.
And second - I have a new painting! Scorpio:
This painting has special significance for me, because I am a Scorpio! It is full of symbolism pertaining to the mysterious and sexy fixed water sign.
Scorpio is well recognized for her sexual prowess, here she is seen topless with a flirty and provocative look in her eyes. She holds a goblet of wine, because cups are symbolic of water in the Tarot. Her sparse clothing is the regal purple that is linked to this sign, clasped together with the Scorpio sign over the genitals, over which the sign rules. Around her neck is the symbol for Pluto and around her wrist is the symbol for Mars, the two ruling planets for Scorpio. Her other wrist bears an opal bracelet, one of the stones associated with this sign.
As a symbol for fixed water, as well as the vigor of Scorpio, I chose a river cutting through a forest, strong and willful. Behind this Scorpio maiden is a thick, dark forest, which stands in stark contrast to the welcoming woman. This is to show the deep and perilous barriers within each Scorpio, keeping outsiders at bay while showing them only what she wants them to see. Very few can make it through to see what lay within, and these fair Scorpio will punish with her vehement sting if they ever betray her trust.
She has a blue scorpion tattoo, and a golden eagle on her staff, both of which are Scorpio's symbolic animal. Most Scorpios show aspects of both of these animals, but generally lean on one end or the other. "Scorpions" are cunning and vengeful, quick to strike with their poisonous tongue. People don't want to cross a scorpion Scorpio. The eagle represents clear vision, intelligence, courage and power. This sight is both in social situations, as Scorpios can see things about people or situations other don't pay attention to, and mystical, as many regard Scorpio as the most magically inclined sign.
