Heading to Indy for the weekend..

Friday, September 28, 2007, 06:05 PM EST [General]

Well Logan has still not shown any improvement since yesterday, but it is really to soon to tell.

We will leave around 4:30 A.M. in the morning and will be staying in Indy over the weekend returning Sunday night. I have to get some work done tonight for a while, or I will have un-happy customers beating down my email box. I will try to update everyone if I can. The hospital has computer in the family area, so if any thing comes up I can let you know.

Once again many, many thanks for all the support, prayers, candles, incense and well wishes heading our way, words can not express my gratitude at this time.

     Love and Magic to All!

Logan Update & Mass Thank Yous

Thursday, September 27, 2007, 08:02 PM EST [General]

I am sorry to be sending a mass thank you, but right now I just can’t seem to wrap my mind around much.
The family and Logan appreciate all your thoughts, prayers, candles and get well wishes more than we can verbally express at this time.

We only stayed at the hospital for two hours today. It was rough and the doctor told us all to go home and get some rest.

Logan’s surgery did not go as well as we had expected. Although the gangrene seems to be disappearing from the six pockets they found earlier this week, it has now spread to his colon. They had to remove part of his colon and try to repair some of the lesser damage where the infection had eaten it’s way through the colon wall.
The doctor told us that he is still in serious trouble, and that if they can’t get the gangrene under control that it could spread via his blood stream to his entire body. They couldn’t close him yet and have him scheduled for more surgery this weekend. He flat lined twice during surgery today, and we could loose him yet.

    My absence...prayers needed too, please

Thursday, September 27, 2007, 06:55 AM EST [General]

    Morning Everyone,

I will be a bit scarce for a few days. My nephew Logan Baker, is in critical condition in the ICU of St. Vincent’s children’s hospital in Indy (Indianapolis, Indiana). He is a very, very sick boy. You can check out my LJ for more details if you wish.

We will be putting in full days that start at 4:30 a.m. every morning, then we will head to Indy after Stephen gets off work at 2:00 p.m. Then we will stay at hospital until 9:00 p.m. and head out for the two and one half hour drive home.

Logan is very special to my husband and I. His sister and him were in our care, several times over the coarse of their young lives. My children look at them as a little brother and sister and not just cousins.
There is along story behind this, that some of you might already know, and I don’t have time to go into it today. Suffice it to say that we are devastated that we can’t be down there with him 24/7 right now.

His doctor’s are still very worried and have been honest with us. His chances are still not good at this time. Machines are basically keeping him alive while they try to heal his body. Heavily sedated he is lying there looking so helpless and small with so many tubes and wires sticking out of him, that is hard to see Logan.

He did wake for a short time last night while we were there and he managed to write on a piece of paper that he was happy we were there, and to say thank you for coming. He can’t speak because of the breathing tube. He shook his head “no” when I told him he was going to be fine and playing Frisbee with Kodiac in no time at all, then he wrote “I am afraid”. Right before he fell back under he signed “I love you” to Stephen and I.

I was glad that he fell asleep before I burst in to tears. It was over an hour before I could stop crying enough to try to drive through the city and head home.

If you have spare minute today please remember this little one in your prayers to what ever deity or universal consciousness you revere. He goes in for more surgery today at 10:30 a.m. EST.

He is such a bright, loving child, even after the hard life he has had till now. He is newly turned 13 just this month, and really not such a small boy any more, but to me he will always be one of my little ones.

    Perfectly Brilliant Day

Sunday, September 23, 2007, 02:05 PM EST [General]

When my daddy called and asked us to paint his house trim I really didn’t think to say no.
We have been painting the trim all day today. Right now we are taking a break, having a late lunch, and walking the dogs before we go back to finish the trim.

This is not my favorite type of painting to do. So monotonous. I find myself wanting to use the brush to make swirls of texture to add interest…wry grin…something my beloved father would not appreciate on his house trim at all…part of me wants to do textures just because…giggles!

Yet the day isn’t a total loss, not at all.

The weather is gorgeous, just wonderfully lovely. Warm, but not to warm, sunny without humidity. Simply beautiful! Being outside on such a day is so liberating. The air is fresh with fall smells, and the sharp smell of fresh paint. Sunday traffic is slow, so the sound of those wonderful chimes my parents have on the pouch is clear and magical.

So even though I truly wish I was working on a new piece of art, or polishing off one of one hundred countless little tasks I should be doing, I am really enjoying being outside on such a perfectly brilliant day!

    Wishing one and all magic!

    Autumn Equinox

Friday, September 21, 2007, 08:31 PM EST [General]

May every one have a glorious Autumn Equinox!
This is my favorite time of year.
The colors of autumn are astounding,
and often take my breath away. I adore the warm sunny days
and the cool crisp evening and nights.
The autumn winds rustles through the dry leaves of the corn fields making an unearthly music that is so peaceful to hear.
