Caprice

    Gender: Female
About Me: CAPRICE is a neo-classical/feeric ensemble from Russia distinguished by Inna Brejestovskaya’s heavenly voice and acoustic sound (harp, flute, clarinet, violin, cello) with a touch of electronics. Probably the best known band’s project is the Elven trilogy – an attempt to show what the music of the parallel world of Faerie sounds like. The first two CDs are music illustrations to JRR Tolkien's novels, while the third part of the trilogy is sung in the unique Laoris (the fictional language created by Caprice). http://caprice-music.com/

CAPRICE is a neo-classical/feeric ensemble from Russia distinguished by Inna Brejestovskaya’s heavenly voice and acoustic sound (harp, flute, clarinet, violin, cello) with a touch of electronics. Probably the best known band’s project is the Elven trilogy – an attempt to show what the music of the parallel world of Faerie sounds like. The first two CDs are music illustrations to JRR Tolkien's novels, while the third part of the trilogy is sung in the unique Laoris (the fictional language created by Caprice in 2004).

The Last album "Kywitt! Kywitt!" was released in the beginning of 2008

"Caprice from Russia must be the most versatile neoclassical musical ensemble that has walked the earth. Or at least the most imaginative, especially if you consider the trilogy devoted to the music of elves that Caprice ended three years ago with an album that was even sung in the elf language Laoris. This ensemble around the composer Anton Brejestovski and the very gifted singer Inna Brejestovskaya brings a highly varied sound created by electronic sounds and acoustic instruments such as a harp, piano, clarinet, flute, guitar, and violin; which create a sound tapestry that in all its virtuosity seems to be played with utmost ease, yet is composed very ingeniously. The focus of the music is of course on the beautiful voice of Inna, that at the pop flavoured moments sounds like she’s the exotic twin sister of Kate Bush. On Kywitt! Kywitt! Caprice goes a step further musically and chooses a surrealistic human view on the world of the elves. Alice in elves world. The approach is obviously different, from surprisingly simple to ultimately hallucinating and dense. More intense and musically rich than in the past with influences not only taken from classical music, world music, and pop; but also from progressive and psychedelic rock music. Lyrics are amongst others taken from Shakespeare, the Brothers Grimm, and traditional songs. Kywitt! Kywitt! is a very special, surrealistic album that can be a true pleasure for every fan of pure yet challenging music."

And Tales Of The Uninvited (Last part of Caprice´s Elven Trilogy) was released in 2005

"TALES OF THE UNINVITED is the third chapter of their 'Elvenmusic', which is inspired by J.R.R Tolkien poetries. This time eleven out of twelve tracks have the lyrics written in Laoris, the language of the faeries. This language has got its own grammar and visually it's like a drawing of tree branches with leaves. This language has been invented by Caprice and it represent the band's will to "getting deeper and deeper into the world of faerie", as they declared into an interview with French magazines Longueurs d’Ondes. The tracks are capable to create a magic atmosphere that enchant. Musically the band astonish for their skill into the writing of a complex score. Also the beautiful voice of Inna help into the characterization of Caprice music and into the creation of this fable world. The violins, the flutes, the clarinets, the harp and all the intruments that are gently played create an atmosphere that also make me think of the historical period of the Renaissance. Caprice with TALES OF THE UNINVITED confirm their mastery into the creation of faeries music!"

"Tales Of The Uninvited” is the third part in the “Elvenmusic saga of the Russian band Caprice. They started it once with “Elvenmusic I” and followed it with “The Evening Of Iluvatar’s Children”. Although Caprice knew to surprise us positively with “Sister Simplicity” this album is a step further in their evolution. The most difficult song structures are played remarkable easy and every little detail seems to fit perfectly. That’s remarkable if you know that Caprice contains eight different musicians who play instruments like harp, violin, flute, clarinet and cello. It’s clear that they all have a classic education which is used fully on this record. They even created an own faerie language Laori (only ‘Faeries Stole Bridget” is sung in English). To comprehend the language you can surf to the Caprice website, but the lyrics are also printed in the booklet. The mission is to show how the music of Faeries sound like, who are far more musical than humans and therefore the music sounds more difficult, but more beautiful as well. That mission is succeeded wonderfully well. Not only the many-sided, talented voice of Inna plays an important role, but every participant on this album sounds important. It creates a record that sounds very impressive and is balanced into the littlest detail. It still sounds easy to the ears although the music surprises and astonishes every breathtaking moment. Beauty has a title, it’s name; “Tales Of The Uninvited”."

Thank you, Anton and Inna, for the friendship.
I have been exploring your website and I have found your music to be captivating. I have to thank Plumevine, too, I read her comment here and went to the link she left for "Fairie Chime".
That song ....Wow...I love it! Is there a way to purchase your music?

I also chuckled at the comment you left for the picture of me in New Zealand....Yes! Come with me next time! It truly is a magical place.
