    Finally Some Fantasy!

    Saturday, November 24, 2007, 09:53 PM [General]

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thankgiving and that those who braved shopping at o'dark hundred on Black Friday got back home safely fromt their shopping exploits!

Wow!  I haven't posted anything on here in quite awhile.  I feel bad about not being more a part of the community, but I've mostly been working on non-fantasy commissioned pieces.  However, I just finished a fantasy painting for my personal holiday cards - before December 1st even!!!

It's titled Snow Flake Faerie.  I posted it in my blog photos and also accidentally in the public photos.  I can't seem to figure out how to insert a photo in my actual blog - I think I need blogging 101 or something!

The reference photo for Snow Flake Faerie came from the wonderful stock at Faestock on DA http://faestock.deviantart.com/

I hope to have a fantasy portrait done by tomorrow and also have some additional ideas for fantasy pieces floating around in my head that I want to get done, then it will be back to commissioned work for awhile again.

    Art Studio

    Saturday, September 29, 2007, 10:39 PM [General]

My husband has been "working" on getting my studio finished for the last 18 mos.  I'm using the term "working" loosely here, but we won't go there!  It's an 8'x10' Tuff Shed that I had built specifically for this. It has a 4'x6' window, two sets of strip lights, two skylights, a ceiling fan, a small AC unit, plus a small heater and about a zillion outlets with three circuits. They finally got the electic to it (yard's a mess from the trench, plus they broke a water line) a couple of weeks ago. My hubby is on vacation this week and he says they should be able to sheetrock this week. His brother is supposed to come over in the evenings and help him. I'm SO excited - I want my drafting table out of my kitchen and I'm looking forward to having my art supplies all together in one place. YAY!!!

Artwise ~ I'm trying hard to get six canine commissions done and out of the way.  I've got three painting and a series of three graphite drawings.  I have more canine commissions lined up after that, but I want to take a break to work a couple of fantasy paintings.  The canine commissions are nice, but sometimes I feel like it doesn't leave me much time to work on my fantasy art other than graphite drawings.  I want to have some time to just work on some paintings for me.  Unfortunately, I've gotten myself behind due to my father passing away im March which I have had a difficult time dealing with - definitely depressed there for a while, plus had a carpal tunnel flare up and a compressed nerve in my neck.  Thankfully my clients have been very understanding about the delays - LOL!  Anyway, looking forward to getting things back on track!

I'm going to a Celtic festival tomorrow with one of my sons and my step-mom.  Should be fun and I hope to get some good photos.   I'll let you know how it goes!

Have a magickal and creative weekend!

    Welcome!

    Tuesday, September 25, 2007, 08:13 PM [General]

Merry meet Dear Friends and Welcome to thy fantasy art blog!

I'm so glad that a friend told me about a blog site for fantasy artists - Yay!

Fall is here and the weather is getting much cooler.  I love it when the leaves turn color and start to fall, it inspires my creativity.  My husband likes it because I'm more in the mood to cook!  I hate to cook when it's hot :-)  Anyway, I just finished a fantasy portrait commission which can be seen at www.artwanted.com/celestria and am now working on some canine portrait commissions.  I want to try to get caught up on those before I do more fantasy pieces, but that's hard - those fantasy pieces just keep sneaking in there because they are so fun to do!  I haven't been doing much photography in the last couple of months but am looking forward to getting back into that as the weather continues to change.

Greetings Jeanne, thank you for joining us and sharing your autumn muse. We have a great affinity with your beautiful part of the world and adore your Redwood trees - never have I felt my life on this earth so put into perspective, as when standing below those special redwoods, they are so magnificent and magical, you just have to touch them to feel their strength as you may not even be able to see all the way to their tops!! Fantastic - any photographs you have would be much appreciated and sighed over...
