    Designing incredible T-shirt Text

Monday, March 24, 2008, 04:33 PM EST [General]

In the first tutorial I showed you how to turn your paintings into outstanding t-shirt designs. In this tutorial, you will learn how to design attractive looking text for your t-shirts. Making your text art clear and easy to read is important. If no one can read your clever slogans, you will never make the kind of sales you want from your t-shirt store.

Keep it simple. There is a rule of thumb I learned in my graphic design classes; if it takes someone too long to get the concept (more than 2 seconds), than its not working. Good design is about communicating an idea in a simple and direct way. People have to "get it" right away without thinking too much about it. One way to help you get your idea across a lot quicker is by making your text really easy to read.

Here is a little t-shirt design tutorial I posted on my blog. Take a look.

How to Make Your T-shirt Designs Stand Out

As a cafepress shop owner, I know how important it is to have eye-catching designs. Whether you  are selling on cafepress, zazzle or getting your shirts printed somewhere else, you know that good clear t-shirt designs equals more sales and more returning customers. Remember, people are not buying the t-shirts, they are buying the artwork on the t-shirts.

You might be getting traffic to your store, even targeted traffic, but for some reason the sales are still not coming. Those extra improvements on your t-shirt designs can mean the difference between a sale and a pass. Spend a little extra time to improve your t-shirt art and more sales will follow.  Here are some tips that will get your t-shirts noticed and win over potential customers.

    Me, the Artist

Tuesday, March 4, 2008, 02:11 AM EST [General]

Okay, so my first Blog entry was really short. I have decided to talk more about myself and what I do.

I am an independent artist/illustrator with some skills in graphic design. I love to draw and paint, mainly fantasy subject matter such as dragons, fairies, exotic women, mythological creatures and little wicked monsters.

I don't have any deep or philosophical meaning behind my work that I'm aware off. I just start with an idea and it sort of grows from there. Than as an after thought I decide to attach some meaning to it just to make people happy.

For the most part, I exhibit my work online. I have my own illustration site http://www.dianalevinart.com where you can view my strongest portfolio pieces. I try to update it regularly.

I also have a few online stores. Http://www.wickedwidow.com is my main store where I sell various artsy products. My art is on t-shirts, prints, greeting cards, mousepads, mugs and many other unique gifts. Http://www.gothicfairygirl.com is all about girly and cutsy gifts. I am still adding stuff to that section.

Lastly, my Etsy store, http://www.wickeddiana.etsy.com is where I sell professional quality photo prints of my artwork as well as original drawings. Soon I will be posting some original paintings.
