Hey,
Here's a bit more info on the details of Faeriecon that I thought would help the artists make some determining conclusions.
It's pretty expensive. But not as expensive as say Comic Con or even INATS and the cool thing is...you have over 7000 prequalified buyers. They are ALL there because they love faeries! Plus it's a convention so they aren't there to listen to the bands or party, they are there to SHOP! That's different than the outside venues where there are alot of folks just there to spread the love and listen to the bands.
Down side? We are competing with the biggest guns in the industry for the people's money.
I have to tell you, Alan Lee, the illustrator and designer for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy-movie, will be there so between him, and Brian and Wendy Froud (I think they'll be there) it is going to be higher than 7000 this year.
So at INATS I have paid $950 for a half a booth for 1500 attendees for 3 days. That's a total of 4500 attendees total. Not really alot I don't think.
Faeriecon is prequalified faerie buffs. With free carpet! 2.5 days over 6000 attendees and if we manage to get a pavillion, each artist will get a 10x10 booth for $625. Plus a crap load of online exposure. You'd need to rent tables too plus include a room and flight etc...believe me it adds up.
The masquerade balls are amazing and some of the best music I've ever experienced. I love Woodland and Qntal. They are both on my front page of friends.
I think I'm going to bulletin this.
But you'll get to meet people like Jasmine Beckette Griffith, Jessica Galbreth, Me...grin...
Brian Froud, Alan Lee and TONS of other artists that you'll recongize.
So please consider it. I think it will be a killer year.
People aren't looking so much for stuff anymore. They want an experience. And if they have the stuff to remember the experience, there is a better shot of buying.
Here's the link if you are interested.
