[General]
I've been holding out a little while, but I just uploaded six new paintings (well, technically two of them are drawings) on deviantART [link], three of which are from my calendar. I only have to do two more paintings for the calendar, plus a design for the cover, and then it will be done. The November painting is already started, and I'm going to post two sketches of it in my next blog post [link]. I also have other work-in-progress images of some of the other paintings featured there.
In other news, I've also set up an account on Flickr [link] where I'll be posting some of my work that I think represents what I'll be doing more of in the future.

[General]
At last, I've finally created an official art blog: jessicarohrartblog.blogspot.com, and I'm very excited about it. It will be strictly art, and I'll use it to post regular updates, sketches, ideas, and works in progress. Updates will be posted every Friday.
For other news, as far as my calendar goes, I just finished August (Roasting Marshmallows) yesterday (Oct. 10), but I'm probably still going to mess with it a little because the dragon looks like the spawn of Satan when it's supposed to look more like a cute little chibi. I'm going to try to have it done in November, but it will be done by December at the latest.
As a last note, I have a new pic to post after all this time: Koi. I did her in ink and colored pencil, but I entered it in the fair before I inked it. It was a lot of fun to do, so I'll probably do more pics like it in the future. I've also gotten more detailed with anatomy, and I based a lot of the musculature on that of an equestrian.
First, updates: I attended the August First Friday, was there for about an hour, and then it started raining. Fortunately, my dad called my cell to warn me about a wind gust that had just blown through his place (didn't get any wind gust, but I did immediately start flinging stuff back in boxes like a lunatic). I had just finished packing everything back up when it started raining, and I just decided to leave since I had sold some stuff and it didn't look like it was going to let up any time soon. As for the Blue Bean gallery show, there will be none, as the BB is closing. I'm still going to try and get some prints and originals put in galleries.
To get to the point, the style of my art in the future will be changing. I will still use my own personal style of drawing and whatnot, and I'll still be doing fantasy, but I basically will be doing more mature stuff (and by mature I mean more grown-up, not something dirty). My art is mostly dominated by cuteness, and I want that to change (I will still do cute stuff, but just not as much). People are constantly telling me I should get into the children's market, and that is not what I want to do. When a friend of mine first suggested it, I considered it, and decided it is not what I want. I have my own plans for my art career.
When I first started painting in 2004, I was doing a little bit of everything, mostly fantasy, wildlife, and floral, as well as an occasional abstract. In 2007, I decided to devote myself entirely to fantasy. At first, I did mostly cute draconic creatures, and it wasn't until a couple years ago that I took an interest in drawing humanoid creatures. Now my interest in humanoids has exploded, which is the reason for another change that will take place. Because of a relatively new affiliation with certain online art communities (dA, FA), I now have a new-found interest in anthro/furry art, so I will be doing more of that in the future. Basically, that's it, although I swear my style is starting to look more like manga. I'm not purposely trying to do manga, but I do like the style, and I know it has some influence on my personal style. Just look at the latest pics on my deviantART page...
Final note: As was to be expected, I am behind on my calendar project, but I am catching up. I have yet to post (or scan for that matter) June (Splash), and I am currently working on July (Smoothies).
As usual, late with my post by only about two weeks. Oh well. I wound up not attending the Gallery Hop, but I did go to the Fairy Festival. It was an hour-and-a-half long drive up to Wooster, OH, (not to mention that I got lost on the expressway the first time I went up there), but it was worth it. I wasn't allowed to sell anything, but I gave away a ton of business cards and had much interest. It was a lot different from setting up around Coshocton.
Because of much inquiry, I designed a price chart for commissions, available on my dA site. It's basically a work in progress, but it gives approximate prices and whatnot. My Cafepress shop is in serious need of updating, but I haven't been getting much done lately; having a lot of personal issues involving my job and other stuff.
Still no word on the August show at the Blue Bean; I'll be sure to procrastinate and wait another two weeks to post it after I get it. ;)
I attended the June First Friday and this one was pretty good. I sold enough stuff to make up for the two hours of work I missed and the gas used to drive to Coshocton from Millersburg (okay, maybe not the gas part).
This coming Wednesday (June 18), I'm going to set up at a Gallery Hop in Coshocton at the Blue Bean gallery, unless more complications arise from work, and on June 28, I'm planning on attending a Fairy Festival in Wooster, although that's still tentative. For August, I'm going to have work featured at the Blue Bean, although I don't yet know the day of the reception.
For paintings, it's been a while since I posted anything on EF since I've been mostly working with dA. I've only had time to work on my calendar project, which I'm only posting on dA, so it might be a while before I can post work anywhere else. I've got January through May done (I've yet to post May), but I'm faced with the major problem that I have no idea set for June. July, August, September, and October are good to go, but I just don't have anything for this month. I might have to skip it altogether. :(
