For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly

....A rose by any other name still hopefully smells as sweet.... As you can see my name has changed, though it actually hasn't...Let me explain!
Ok, my married name is Toni (Antonia) Townsend and this is the name I have been using for my artworks, but I have decided now to revert back to my maiden name for my Art, so from now on I am Toni Cogdell. (and Toni coz that's what everyone calls me )
Don't worry, I'm happily married still! It's just a simple case of me wanting just one name, rather than me separating my old figurative works to my newer fantasy stuff. I started out, years ago, exhibiting under the name Cogdell, and when I became disillusioned with my art and began exploring my Muse more I decided to use my married name to distance myself form my old work. But now I'm really happy with where I am and what I'm doing so I'm hoping to get back into the galleries again and go forward with Ummph!!
So basically, if you see the name Toni Cogdell or Antonia Townsend by my work, don't worry they are both me!!
And also I have just redesigned my website [link] so check it out if you have time. And on some of the pages you will also find some poetry written by Annie Cogdell...my mum! I will be talking about my mum lots more soon as we have some very exciting collaborative projects coming up!
And talking of pictures...Here's a new one! Titled Awakening...
The Falcon flies between worlds, connecting and awakening you to your higher vision, inspiration and truth.
...Staring up at Grandfather sky, Coventina honours Nature's gift of water to purify, cleanse and bless the beginning of a new cycle...The sacred union of Earth and spirit...
Here she is, after months of work and lots of colour and form changes! She started life with dolphins in the sky and water pouring all around her, but the element of Earth crept in and it became more personal and wanted to tell a different story. Coventina is the Goddess who watches over water - rivers, oceans, moving water, and she represents purification, new cycles and beginnings. She has been whispering to me for a while now!
I adore the goddess Coventina and your depiction of her is magnificent! I love the cattails in the background. A nice blend of water and earth energy. :)
My, isn't he handsome?! And what an intense gaze. :) Did you have a gorgeous model for this one or is he merely a lovely figment of your imagination? I love the dragon tattoos around the eyes. :)
Here is my latest painting, The Rise of Atlantis...
When all the hurts are healed and all quarrels laid to rest, when the struggle is a struggle no more,
Atlantis will rise bringing the dawn of the Age of the limitless soul...
I started this one a long time ago, but got distracted by oil painting in the meantime! The past couple of weeks I felt really drawn to finish it, and it became quite a personal piece. I hope you like it. Faery Hugs to you all :) xx
She walks in the web between light and dark, between Magick and Spirit. Her Earth walker Wolf bringing her wisdom, knowledge and the truth of her self, while her Sky dweller Raven watches over her from above, being her link to the other side and her Magick Talisman. A Shadow-Walker is not afraid of the darkness, but knows it is part of the balance Gaia creates, and embraces it along with the light. Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Spirit...as intended.
This is my first oil painting for a year or so, though oils are my first love. This past year I have been finding my voice and experimenting, with water media mainly, and now I feel ready to get back into the oils as well as the watercolours. Just wanted to share her with you *Hugs* :)
wow antonia beautiful painting!!
you are amazing with oils!!
just like your watercolors.
I love how you captured/painted the skin tones,i always want to try oils but it's the waiting for the layers to dry that drives me insane, may i ask do you work wet in wet? or do you wait for each layer to dry?
It's beautiful i think you
should do more oil paintings!! :)
Have a wonderful weekend
*hugs*
Dear Antonia,
Thank you for accepting my friend request. I saw your feature in FAE magazine this month which was lovely. Your artwork is amazing!
Hope to talk again soon.
Faery Blessings,
Esther.
Dearest Antonia, thank you so much for being part of the EF community, we are blessed indeed to have your gorgeous artwork here to inspire us. Your Rise of Atlantis painting is beautiful and really evocative, so glad you finished it! Drew adores dolphins and one day I would love to be able to offer him an opportunity to swim with them - what special creatures they are, so intelligent and playful and more connected to us than we often give them credit for... I feel that magic every time I see your piece. (Being so close, please don't forget that if you're ever in the Cotswolds you are always welcome to pop in for a cuppa!)
Smiles,
Hauntingly beautiful...
