Whew!

Been a while since I blogged here - I've been busy with everyone else's art, and a little bit with my own, too. Hopefully I can sit down for some quality time with the scanner and share it shortly. Cross your fingers for me!

    May updates...

Thursday, May 1, 2008, 09:24 AM AKST [General]

    Happy May Day!

A new issue of EMG-Zine is up, and it's a doozy. Licensing tips from Selina Fenech, An intro to LARP from Lorna, plus a fistful of incredible columns from our talented staff. I know a lot of people have been concerned recently about the Orphan Works issue, and I have an in-depth column about the issue as well, looking at the history and actual bill. EMG-Zine

This is some artwork I did for this issue, since our theme was 'trains,' and folks had some trouble coming up with art for the gallery for that theme! Note, today is the last day to submit 'Egypt'-themed work for June, and our July theme is 'The Senses.' Art submission page

    *Dies of Roses*

A bit of a big image, but I want you to appreciate the amount of detail in this piece! It's a big one (for me) - 14 x 20 inches. My fingers hurt.

Tell Me a Story - Jenny and Bjorn

Sunday, February 17, 2008, 06:13 PM AKST [General]

    And lo, more art!

This is another Tell Me a Story piece,* this time for myself. Jenny and Bjorn are characters in a novel and handful of short stories that I'm working on. I think there are a few stories at my Elfwood shelf, and maybe at my personal site, though I don't think they've all been posted yet. In a nutshell, Bjorn is cursed to be a bear in the summers, and a man in the winters when the bear-self sleeps. Jenny is an Alaskan artist who finds him one fall, and tries to help him break the curse.

*The Tell Me a Story project, for those of you who've expressed curiosity, is a coloring book for the insane that I will be putting out shortly - it's high-detail pieces like this, with a smattering of short, short stories to go with them. I had commissions available for a short time, where you could tell me a story, or bits of a story, or just give me a few prompts, and I'd meld it together into an omni-illustration like this. The coloring book will be released in a limited edition of 100, and those folks who commissioned stories get a copy of the coloring book with their original.
