Aw, I am exhausted...I worked a little bit on the base for Brent's sexy lady sculpture, and added a few more details to her as well. I also worked on my other commission project, and started a few new vintage illustration aceos. I love them, they are too much fun!! Two mermaids, two witches, a dragon or two...peacock...Love it! A bunch more flowers have bloomed; hollyhock, batchelors button, and some little white foxgloves I didn't know about. No moonflowers yet, but they grow about a foot a day, I swear! I will have to take some more pictures and post them... Okay, I've got to go chill out, but before I go, Tamara at Misty Dreamz cross stitch patterns has posted a bunch of my newer images available as cross stitch patterns. I have some beautiful poppies in my garden that have finally bloomed, so I actually got some pictures:
I just love poppies. These are oriental poppies, not Flanders poppies (those are beautiful, too, as are the California poppies, which are not actually poppies but are named for their likeness). I love the mystique of the poppy, all the way from it's opiates to it's pop culture to it's appearance fragility but it's actual strength... Such a lovely plant.
Anyhoo, I am going out of town today until late Monday night. I always bring my laptop but sometimes I don't use it. So, I must get ready to go! ~Em
Ahoy hoy! Well, I know I have neglected my blog here, but am here to update now! (FYI my regularly updated blog can be viewed at http://darkling_emily.livejournal.com). I have finished revamping my website...it has a whole new look, tons more art in the gallery, a bunch of new helpful, fun, and informative art links, a more in depth bio page... it's just so much better now...Much closer to the website I had in mind. A lot of work, but certainly worth it! So, I am asking all you wonderful magical folks to take a moment to drop by

I also have a beautiful new (ish) mermaid piece to share with you...
"Afterglow" is an original 8" x 10" mixed media collage based on canvasboard. She was drawn in archival inks on acid free paper, and other hand made papers, acrylic paint, varnish, and peacock feathers were used to create the background and details. (no mermaids or pea**** were harmed in the making of this fantasy art) :) One of my altime favorites for sure! I suppose I had better go and get some chores done and some art made...I am attempting to sew myself a new hand bag, but keep getting majorly distracted!! Ciao! ~Em
