It has been a very busy day. I had to take the boys to see a new daycare because I will be starting an hour before them this year at the High School. Luckly the daycare is right across the street from their Elementary school. I also had to buy backpacks, luchboxes, and I wanted to buy small thermous mugs, but they were OVER TEN DOLLARS!!!! I haven't even gotten the list for all the other needed supplies, such as pencils, crayons, markers, paper, ....ectra. That brings up the fact that I haven't heard if they are having Art and Music yet. The schools did last year. All three elementaries shared both the Art and Music teacher. Each one of my boys were in at least one concert for the year, but art was very limited. I love the Art teacher, but he dosen't like to do what calls 'cookie cutter art projects' whatever that means. So I dedn't have any projects for my frig. Don't get me wrong he is very good and talented and he works great with the students. Its just I like 'cookie cutter art' I guess.......Did any of you know that Art and Music are the first to go when budget cutting? Of course you all did. Its very frustrating. My students need the Arts! Many express their feelings and work out fustrations through the medium of drawing or music. Writing is very hard for them, although as they mature, poetry and journal writing becomes a more expressable outlet. I don't even have all the space or time to go into how the Arts improve brain fuctions and study skills. I love teaching and I know its one of my gifts its just become so unfun.
