    Finished ACEO

Saturday, March 6, 2010, 08:54 PM GMT [General]

    Tonight i finished one of the ACEO's i started over a month ago.(2.5" x 3.5")
This is titled' Fairy Mushrooms',it is done on illustration board with watercolours and a small amount of coloured pencil and white gouache.

I looked up the difference between Toadstools and Mushrooms but apparently there aren't any!!It is two words for the same thing.Toadstool was commonly used to name a poisonous fungi but many so called mushrooms are poisonous!

I thought i would show this before i start criticizing it and focusing on the mistakes.
I am thinking i might list it for sale.
    Comments and advice welcome.

I like the way these turned out! Very pretty - you should definitely list it for sale.

New Sewing Machine...........well new to me

Saturday, February 6, 2010, 08:00 PM GMT [General]

I bought a Sewing Machine from an auction this week.
It is an old Husqvarna Classica 100 and i have no idea how to use it!!!This has no manual and the only ones i can find are about £10.00 which i am not paying, the machine was only £5.00.
The last time i used a sewing machine i was at school and i was never any good at it.

I plugged it in today and it works, just needs setting up.
Wendy is going to show me how to set it up sometime. Then i just need to buy some fabric and cottons..........

My plan is to make some Journal/Sketchbook covers and maybe some pouches for my handmade jewellery.
I got the idea for the Sketchbook covers from the lovely Lisa Hamilton(Alice Mahone),i love her handmade bags etc and have wanted to try making something similar for ages.

It will be interesting to see if i can get the hang of using this machine and what i end up making(if anything!!)
If i don't use it i will just have to sell it,hopefully though i will manage to make some nice things with it :)

If anyone does have a instruction manual for a Husqvarna Classica 100 please let me know,i would really like a copy!

    UPDATE 9th Feb:

I have managed to get a copy of the instruction manual,a lovely person on Sewing Forum(thank you Missy!!!) sent me a PDF copy :)

Good luck with your sewing machine. I hope you will show us some of your covers and pouches soon.
That just reminded me, how much I like sewing, I should do it more often :)

    New puppy :)

Sunday, January 31, 2010, 01:54 PM GMT [General]

    We have a new puppy.

We went to see her on Friday and we brought her home the same day.

Her name is Holly, she is a beautiful Chocolate Labrador born 27th October.

She settled in her new home straight away and is getting used to being taken for walks, she is a good girl with a lovely nature and i don't think it will take to long to house train her.

Today we took her to the Sunday market to get her a proper bed,she was a bit frightened by all the people but she was good with the other dogs and people she met.

At the moment she is beside me having a snooze in her new bed.

(the photo's of her sleeping are when she just had pillows and a towel to sleep on)

Here are some photo's of the pretty girl:

New ACEO's work in progress and Fungus photo's

Sunday, January 24, 2010, 09:09 PM GMT [General]

I actually did some painting in my Studio today :)
I haven't done any in ages, the Studio has only been getting used for Ebay.
In fact for weeks it was so cold in there it was just getting things dumped in it and was a right mess, now i have heating again and my Studio is fairly tidy again.
It was nice to be in there today.

    I started two Watercolour ACEO's(2.5" x 3.5" art)
One is a toadstool house and the other is a group of blue toadstools, one done on Arches watercolour paper and the other Illustration board.
I hope they turn out okay when i finish them.

I also took some photos of Fungus on logs,Shane brought a trailer load of wood back for the fire,i thought i would take the pics before the logs get cut and the fungus destroyed.

I love your new toadstool paintings, especially the toadstool house. What a cute idea!

The fungus photos are really interesting too. Isn't nature amazing? I took some fungus photos last summer, but they are not nearly as clear or colorful as yours.

I will email you soon! Hugs xxx

These new paintings are so whimsical, Sarah! And your photos are fascinating, too. The other day I was out in the pouring rain, and because all the trees were soaking wet, the bark was darkened and the lichens growing on them seemed to stand out in the most vivid color. It was quite a striking day for lichen-lovers and fungus-friends! Cheers!

I really love these!!! i've not heard of Etsy until now but looked at the site and i am pleasantly surprised. I'm glad that people still create jewelery by hand, especially those who have a passion for it. It seems you've spent a lot of time and energy on those creations and i admire that.

Wouldn't mind getting one at some point even if i can't wear it personally :D lol I think a celtic style bracelet would be nice.

Hi Sarah, thank you! The book is called Enchanting Magical Cakes. Debbie's cakes are a lot easier than Lindy's, you need lots of moulds and specialised equipment for Lindy's cakes.Hope your fall didn't hurt too much! Zoe x

Thank you Sarah. Good luck with the sewing machine manual search. We have an old Husquavana. I checked to see if it was the same model but unfortunately it's not. Ours is an ancient Husquavana 2000.
