There is so much going on in our world right now, and when I say "our world," naturally I mean this wonderful magical alterna-verse that we have all become a part of. I've actually had people tell me they're going to miss one faerie festival because they'll be attending another one...not bad, right? (though I suppose actually being able to attend both, say if they were on different weekends, would be even better.) Be sure to stop by the Faerie Magazine booth at Faerie Worlds if you happen to be there and tell them you saw them on Enchanted Folk. I understand that Katie Lennon and Hawk (see their EF pages) are there, and of course the regular crowd of delightful magical creatures. I wish I could have gone too, but perhaps next year! In Illinois at the World Of Faeries Festival the Gypsy Nomads will be playing and there's just so much else to wonder at there. What else is going on in the world?
Our summer issue is out and will be arriving in bookstores and in subscribers mailboxes soon (currently available at Faerie Festivals though!). There was one feature at least that we thought we were going to do and were not able to in this issue (emerging artist), but we are featuring the works of some up and coming poets and writers, and oh-my-gawd, is there some beautiful art in this one! Stephanie Roberst, Brigid Ashwood...well, it's just gorgeous. Look for our wing feature, too! And we are still looking for new materials for future issues - keep the suggestions coming! I read a lot of mail from our readers and it's become one of my favorite parts of the job. Submission guidelines are always listed in the beginning of each issue. I want more fiction!!!!
Have I ranted enough? I suppose. Good night to all - enjoy your merry-making and be safe and happy.
We are very active here in Maryland, USA getting our summer issue ready to print. There is so much to this process, and I won't bore anyone with the details, but it is easy to get caught up in the perfectionism inherent to the work - we just want to put out a great magazine for everyone to enjoy! We are always open to suggestions from our readers - feedback is so helpful!
I also just want to say "welcome" to the new members of our group here. I hope to see this group continue to grow - it is good to be among friends!
So - as a gesture of my good will (come on, you were looking for a good-will gesture, right?) I'll share with you that we are reviewing the album "Seedling" by the group Hudost. It's really great. If you haven't heard of Hudost you should check them out. And of course you should read our review in the summer issue of Faerie Magazine!
We are happily progressing toward our summer issue of Faerie Magazine - our spring issue has only been out for a couple of weeks and it already looks like it might be our most well-received, and we're thinking how nice it would be if summer followed suit! We are actively looking for new works of fiction, poetry, and visual art in order to achieve that goal. You can find submission guidelines by going to our website (www.faeriemagazine.com). Spread your wings and take flight! Let the winds of your imagination carry you to our doorstep. We will welcome you.
We are so pleased with the spring issue of Faerie Magazine! By now it should have reached your mail box (if you subscribed prior to the spring print) in the U.S., and Europe and beyond should be following quickly. If you haven't subscribed you can do so at www.faeriemagazine.com (Europe and beyond should go to www.idobelieve.co.uk) in time for our summer issue. This issue is available as a single issue at our website and at major booksellers and smaller booksellers alike. As always, if you have any problems whatsoever, please contact us!
I hope we receive many, many postcards for our postcard contest - we are giving away an amazing CD collecion and, separately, a necklace from Peaceful Art Jewelry. We also have a big doll contest with Charisma dolls, so be sure to check that out as well!
We are in the proverbial kitchen now, cooking up a special summer issue. I'll keep you posted!
