Hello Enchanted folk! I'm back...for how long I'm not sure. Life keeps drafting me into its fast pace army, so my attention is hither and yonder. :)
At the moment, I'm working my tail off making as many dolls as humanly possible for the Faerie worlds festival this summer, because Jennifer (-FaerySpell Creations) and I are sharing a booth. I'm so excited! I've finally gotten back into my sculpting and I'm loving every minute of it. I'm going to be selling mostly pipe cleaner dolls, but I'll also have a few polymer dolls. Wee! My only issue is that I can't post pictures of everything I've been doing on my website because my camera is dead. D-E-A-D. It lets me take one crappy picture and then it shuts itself down. I do have a few shots though...well, a few shots of the polymer dolls because there are less of them than the pipecleaner dolls, but ya know.
She's the first in my "Goblin Girls" series. I was watching Anything Goes while making her outfit, so she is mitzi Gaynor inspired (dress wise), hence the name :)
Another Goblin Girl. I was watching Call me Madame for this one, so her outfit is inspired by Vera-Ellen.
And last, but DEFINITELY not least...Nanna.
Oh, and I've been meaning to make mention of this for a while now, but even if I don't reply to any comments, I do read and really appreciate them. For some odd reason, whenever I go to reply back to someone, I don't feel like I should be :/

Thanks to a scene in The Rescuers Down Under...I have my art groove back at long last :)
There is this one part where Cody (the main character) jumps off a waterfall into a flock of birds in flight, and it was just such a powerful scene for me that I decided to re-create it in Art Nouveau style. I have yet to paint it (I'll be doing that when it isn't one o'clock in the morning), but as it stands at the moment...I really, really like what I have. Fly, Cody! Fly!
Nothing much else to say at the moment. I'm dancing around my apartment right now because of this and had to share my joy with SOMEONE.
I was inches away from having a steady job as a figure model! So close! The instructor teaches on Thursdays and that's when my intro to sculpture class is, which makes me so sad. She loved that I have green hair and that I am an actual art student, so she went ahead and booked me for April 30th, which makes me super happy, but at the same time...it doesn't really help me now.
I called a couple other art schools and am waiting for calls back, but I'm still on the lookout for colleges, community centers, and studios in need. Anyone know of any?
Phleh...I stick my tongue out at you Intro to sculpture. You're not even that fun to be in...
If anything, this has only strengthened my resolve to get myself out there and become a figure model.

I am posting this in every online journal I have. Maybe if more people know about it, something can be done because this has gone far enough. First the Orphan arts act and now this??
I understand the reasons for this act and I agree with them for big companies who can afford the $4,000 per toy inspection fee. As for us small time crafters who create one of a kind items? We're screwed if this act is allowed to survive.
It's becoming harder and harder to be an artist these days simply because the government is too stupid to redefine and clarify who is effected by their acts. Sure, they may start out as good ideas, but in execution they become more harmful than helpful, especially to those of us who are not part of huge corporations, who can afford to pay all these fees.
If this act is allowed to remain, than I may very well have to stop creating my dolls. I know of other artists who have either decided to stop doing what they love because they don't have the money to continue their craft or others who are willing to go against the law because of it's utter stupidity. This is a huge blow to all crafters, especially those of us who are Waldorf crafters. Our naturally made toys are going to be illegal come February.
I've e-mailed both of the California senators and one from Colorado...and I hope at least one of them will care enough to help those of us who no longer seem to have a voice in our own country.
I urge anyone who cares enough about art and the people who take the time and effort to create it, to e-mail your senators and alert them to this. Something needs to be done and this isn't something we can just ignore and hope it goes away.
