Brighid, Triple Goddess of Inspiration, Smithcraft and Healing

Sunday, February 1, 2009, 06:29 PM GMT [General]

I have so enjoyed finding out more about Brighid that I have written two more articles about her. She is connected with many different animals, birds and trees, and is a great teacher and healer in many forms.

Her transformative power is perfect for working with at Imbolc, and for any Enchanted Folk who are suffering with creative blocks at the moment, she is able to assist with that too!

My first article is about working with Brighid, and the customs and rituals associated with her.

The second goes into more detail about her animal and plant associations, and her four sacred animals, the wolf, bird of prey, cow and snake.

Brighest Blessings for a Happy Imbolc!

Imbolc and Brighid, Goddess of Fire, Hearth and Healing

Saturday, January 31, 2009, 10:52 PM GMT [General]

One of the wonderful things about writing is that when it comes to doing the research, you can really focus on a subject and find out lots more than you might otherwise have known. It is only in recent months that I have come to fully dedicate myself to following the Path I have chosen, and so much of it I am still learning.

This year I will be marking each of the festivals properly for the first time, which I have wanted to do for a long time now. I will be celebrating Imbolc with some traditional foods, meditating with Brighid and crafting a Brighid's Cross.

Speaking of Brighid, I have long had a fascination with this goddess, but never known a great deal about her. Now I do, and I have decided to work with her as my kitchen goddess of hearth and home this year. It is fitting that not only is she a Celtic goddess, but she is also of the Tuatha de Danann - a true faerie goddess!

I have written three new articles on suite101 today:

    What is Imbolc?

    Who is Brighid?

Imbolc Magic for the Kitchen Witch

I hope you enjoy and learn from them! Brightest Blessings for the weekend and for Imbolc xxxx

More Scribblings from the Faerie Bard!

Saturday, January 31, 2009, 12:00 AM GMT [General]

Well, I finally got around to writing my first article for Helium today, after joining up about two weeks ago!

This site once again works differently from the other sites I write for, which is cool, because it's nice to be able to write in different styles and so on.

On Helium, rather than simply writing articles and posting them, the titles are already there. You pick a title and write the article! There could be one other article under this title, or twenty, or a hundred. That's where it gets interesting! All members of Helium, once they have posted their first article, get to rate other articles. The best articles get to the top of the list, get read more, and earn more ad revenue from Helium. All articles are anonymous and of course, you can't rate your own articles. Unless you create an alter ego. But that's just silly. ;o)

The first article I have posted is Kitchen Witchery 101. I was most delighted to discover a few moments ago that it has already shot to number one, hurrah!

Although having just sat through several atrocious articles while rating other people's articles, I am now not so sure whether that is a great achievement or not, lol!!!

As well as writing this way, you can also suggest titles, and if you write the first article under an empty title, you automatically earn a dollar. There are also writing contests, a marketplace to pitch for work, and a section for writing fiction and poetry as well as articles.

Worth a look if you are interested in writing for the web - different from all the other sites and less constrictive than some sites such as suite101. However, the quality of some of the writing is not so good, so if you would prefer to be part of a more professional site, go for suite101 or Squidoo.

Making a Faerie Altar and Working with Angels

Friday, January 30, 2009, 01:44 PM GMT [General]

    Bright Blessings everyone!

I have been working on crafting a faerie altar for myself and was inspired to write a new article all about it! You can read it here :o)

I am going to have crystals, acorns, pressed flowers, faerie ornaments, faerie artwork, candles and incense on it to name but a few! It will be part of my little faerie reading room which I am working on, a lovely purple room with walls full of books and faeries - BLISS!!! ;o) When it is eventually finished I will post some pics.

Hopefully it will become the perfect place to work some faeriecraft and also meditate with the faerie's beloved cousins, the angels. This is also a subject dear to my heart and for those of you who are interested in working with angels as well as faeries, I have a new article introducing the topic here.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all you wonderful Enchanted Folk for your continued messages of support and all the lovely feedback you give me on my writing. It is the best part of doing what I do, knowing that people are getting something out of what I write, and enjoying it.

I am now off to do a little painting and have a play with some new craft materials!

    Love and Light!

Faeries Rule!!! My Lens Reaches Top Ten!

Saturday, January 24, 2009, 09:05 AM GMT [General]

Got some fantastic news when logging on to Squidoo today - my Faeries lens has reached Number 10 in the Religion & Spirituality lens rankings! Not bad considering it was only #49 when I last posted here :)

I've still got a long way to go until I get a lens in the overall top 100 (I think this lens is something like 1,200 at the mo!!) but this is a very good start.

Thank you to everyone who viewed it and left kind comments both there and here! This goes to prove that there are many believers out there like us who want to find out more about faeries - hurrah!

Watch out for more lenses coming soon.

    Bright Blessings!
