My name is Misty Benson (a.k.a. gossamerfaery). I live, breathe, and bring my Morbidly Adorable Creations into being from Gossamerfaery’s Attic in curiouser and curiouser Idaho. From the Attic, the creations and I can smell the sugary scent of coffin cake on the winds. The rustle of leaves sound like hollow bones rattling on pavement. Rain is actually skeletons tap dancing on the roof. Here we vehemently hold onto the ghosts in our dreams. Faeries may be spotted in the dying light. We are not afraid to muddy our white dresses in order to witness the mysterious lives of bugs. Halloween is our favorite time of year, so we spend Christmas decorating our tree with skulls. Life leaves us feeling a little haunted but always enchanted. This is a place where beauty borders on strange and the strange is beautiful.
From Gossamerfaery's Attic, I paint and sculpt dreamy big-eyed faeries and delightful Day of the Dead skeletons. My dark and delicious little minions have made their way into homes around the world. They have been featured in paintings, prints, one of a kind sculptures, magnets, stickers, and cards causing sweet mischief wherever they go. Both the faeries and skellies have also found themselves published in various magazines as well as the books "500 Fairy Motifs", "Big Eye Art: Resurrected and Transformed", and my solo book "The Morbidly Adorable Skelly"!! Be sure to check out my other auctions as I combine shipping and may ship unlimited items for no additional charge!
I, Misty*, gossamerfaery, your skull-loving, slightly unhinged, sweetly spooky artist love all of my Morbidly Adorable children. Take my hand. Come in and play. Just make sure you leave all rational thoughts at the door.

Today is Cinco de Mayo, but it's Skelly de Mayo every day this month! Here's a nice article about Cinco de Mayo in both Spanish and English. ♥ strategicpromotionforsuccess.blogspot.co...
#10ThingsIWantToBuy is trending on Twitter. Here's my really deep answer: A house, a new knee, A Team Zissou Intern shirt, a More Cowbell shirt, 2 tickets to Paradise, a soul, a starship, a derby hat for my cat, & a Jessica Joslin poster. And yes, I'd take a Team Zissou Intern shirt over the soul;) ♥
Let me introduce you to our new cat Derringer. As "Chicken Sandwich" was just not cutting it, I had to rename her. I'm not a fan of guns (though my boyfriend is,) but I love gun names! Don't try to figure me out! LOL Anyway, he said Derringer didn't sound much like a girl's name, so her proper name is Miss Derringer;) This is her favorite spot to sit and stare at me. When it's not creepy, it's actually kind of cute. Happy Saturday! ♥
When I was small, my mom helped me pen a letter to the Easter Bunny. I wanted to know where he lived and how he dyed so many eggs every year. He replied back telling me that he lived on a farm, and he had lots of bunny friends that helped him paint the eggs. There were pretty pictures drawn all over the letter, and he signed it with a paw print. It was completely magical. And then somewhere along the way, my idea of the Easter Bunny turned into some Donny Darko nightmare! Ha ha! And with that being said, I hope you put all your candy away before the Easter Skelly came by!May the eggs left by Easter Skelly never hatch! However you celebrate, Happy Haunted Easter!
Forgive my silence as I pour myself into the "Hanged Man" painting ♥ It is far from a traditional Hanged Man -- not a man and not hanging! LOL It is my most ambitious card yet! The crown jewel of the deck?! It's probably premature to say since the deck is in its infancy, but I definitely have a "divine vision" for this piece. As there is so much I want to do, I'm painting it 9x the size of the other paintings!!! Thank goodness they all shrink down to the same size in the end though! ♥
Other than that, I cannot wait to see THE LORAX!! There is a pouty little Lorax in my room that sits over my art desk and watches me paint:) I am so excited to watch his story on the 3D big screen! (Thanks for the movie passes, Ali!!) He's so cute I just want to *squee* until I faint! ♥♥♥
And when I'm not thinking about the Lorax, I'm busy trying to figure out how to get the jackalope to stop staring at me! Or at least tell me how I can meet Lenny Kravitz without getting slapped with a restraining order or ending up on the 5 o' clock news! LOL I was very jealous watching Chelsea Handler hug him a few nights ago! He's my boyfriend in some other timeline, in some other reality -- definitely in my head! Maybe I should have swallowed the blue pill... LOL
Since this was such a skelly-heavy day, just for fun, here is my fan art take on one of the most special characters in my life -- Winnie the Pooh!
"Cirque du Pooh" 3'x4' Acrylic on Stretched Canvas Painting
The wonderful Octo-Pooh carries his stuffed Piglet (complete with wings for the day pigs fly!) Christopher Robin walks along with his beehive balloon anxiously being trailed by heffalumps! All-seeing owl gathers a group around him as he tells the fotrunes of others -- eager Roo, regal Kanga, and rumpled Rabbit! Not to be overlooked are ringleader Tigger, always gloomy Eeyore, and jolly Gopher!
This little bear and all of his friends own my heart!
