Wednesday, February 17, 2010, 08:22 PM EST [General]

    Hi everyone!

Hand Painted Canvas prints for "Alice and Las Meninas," "Cello Storm," and "Babirusa Skull" - each starting at a penny.

    ******

Also a quick head's up - I will be out of town for just 2 days, leaving in the morning. I'm going to be up north at Hamilton Collection headquarters for some scheduled business meetings, product development, brainstorming, a photo session & videotaping. So - I'll be back Saturday morning. No worries though - it won't be long enough to affect any sort of shipping or orders, just maybe a 1 day delay on emails, etc. But it is a good thing - very fun future projects are developing....

    ******

The new original paintings - the 76th and 77th paintings in my "Faces of Faery" series - my popular series of paintings I've been working on that featuring beautiful faces from all corners of the world of Faery. Each is READY TO HANG - you don't need a frame - 6"x6" in size and on 2" gallery style cradled masonite, original acrylic paintings (not prints of any kind). The great thing about my "Faces of Faery" series of paintings is that they are all the same size and are intended to hang beautifully in a group as well as on their own - for example they make fabulous groupings of several paintings together (I hung up nine of them on my wall in a square shape and it looked fantastic!). To see the new originals (and all other currently available original paintings) simply click below - they're near the bottom of the page here:

Jasmine's Original Paintings Currently for Sale

Or individually - here is "Faces of Faery 76" - she is the 76th in the series. A stunning portrait of a beautiful pale girl contrasts nicely with a vibrant swallowtail butterfly! And yes, to give everybody a chance, she is starting at just ONE PENNY! She's up for a 10-day auction ending the evening of Saturday, February 27th 6:35PM Central Time , and you can see her here:

"Faces of Faery: 76" ORIGINAL PAINTING

And here is "Faces of Faery 77" - she is the 77th in the series. Faces of Faery all feature beautiful faery-inspired creatures, and she is no exception. This one features a red haired girl with AMAZING eyes and a leafy green dragon pet! And yes again, to give everybody a chance, she is starting at just ONE PENNY! She's up for a 10-day auction ending the afternoon/evening of Saturday, February 27th 6:38PM Central Time, and you can see her here:

"Faces of Faery 77" ORIGINAL PAINTING

Next up - new #01 Hand Painted Limited Edition Canvas Prints! For three of my latest paintings - "Alice and Las Meninas," "Cello Storm," and "Babirusa Skull" - each is hand embellished and signed & numbered (#01, first one!) by me in acrylic paint, truly the next best thing to owning the original. Each is up for a 10-day auction starting at ONE PENNY ending the evening of Saturday, February 27th 6:45-6:57 PM Central Time:

    See them all together HERE

"Alice and Las Meninas" approx. 11"x16" #01 Hand Embellished Canvas Print

"Cello Storm" approx. 11"x14" #01 Hand Embellished Canvas Print

Giant New Original Painting "Alice and Las Meninas" - so beautiful!

Saturday, February 13, 2010, 08:37 PM EST [General]

    Hi everyone!

Here is what has been OBSESSING me for the past three days....

I have a new painting to show you tonight! One of my best yet, and certainly one of the largest I have ever offered for sale. Also - the LONGEST time I've ever spent on a single painting, hehe. "Alice and Las Meninas" - my first "Alice" painting of the year! She's up in my eBay store (where she will remain until purchased, or else will come with me to MegaCon or the Celebration Spring Art Festival, so if you want her - grab her now!)! I have prints up already too!

All right, the new original painting! "Alice and Las Meninas" is the title - one of my favourite Alice in Wonderland paintings I've done yet (heck, one of my favourite paintings of any kind I've done yet)! This is the third painting in my sub-series called "Alice in Other Lands" which are paintings featuring Alice in a variety of unusual circumstances, thrown into settings inspired by my love of art history (be sure to check out the first two installments honoring Bosch and da Vinci). Here we have my Alice on the set of one of the most beautiful and famous paintings in the world - "Las Meninas" (the Handmaidens") by 17th century painter Diego Velázquez - the epitome of Spanish Baroque. This is of course my version (for comparison, check out Picasso's Las Meninas, hehe). In my painting, Alice is playing the little princess (Infanta Margarita of Spain). Lewis Carroll has a cameo as the painter in this piece (Velázquez). The handmaidens truly must be from the court of the Queen of Hearts. In the distance you can see the Mad Hatter sneaking out the back, the Duchess holding a squealing pig, and the King of Hearts looking typically downtrodden and bedraggled. And lo and behold, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum have squeezed their way into the portrait too. Also if you look at the portrait on the back wall, you may see the White Rabbit! My favourite part though has got to be the devilish Cheshire Cat who has seemingly replaced Velázquez's faithful hound. This is a painting celebrating my loves of Alice in Wonderland and Baroque art - no reason why the two shouldn't go together! I've always thought that Alice's adventures should continue into many other bizarre tales, and you can expect to see more from me in the future. My own lowbrow big eyed take on Velázquez's work was one of my largest paintings to date, and took longer than any other painting I've completed (over three days, which is a long time for me!). This is my own original acrylic painting, completely painted by hand. PS - this painting is HUGE - almost four feet wide! Could totally hang over a sofa or headboard and make the room fantastic! Framed it measures 44" wide by 32" high (it is the ORIGINAL painting - acrlyics on a 36"x24" masonite panel). A huge, ornate, antique style picture frame. Tiny carved details suit the Baroque theme. It's an open wood frame with a posh antiqued golden finish - this really is a stunning piece - it truly can be the focus of any room. It's up at a fixed price in my eBay store where it will remain unless purchased or else brought to my art show at MegaCon (or possibly the Celebration Spring Art Festival) in March. So if you want her - get her now (or come to one of the shows!). Click below to see her:

"Alice and Las Meninas" ORIGINAL FRAMED PAINTING

And as always, to see all of my other currently available original paintings - click below - I have some BEAUTIFUL originals up right now and will be adding more soon:

I'm making the "Alice and Las Meninas" prints available NOW on Zazzle. If the original isn't in your budget, grab one of these! These are beautiful prints - starting at just $13.80 - and guess what? You can add on custom mats, frames, glass, etc. however you want it. And you can choose the paper type - glossy, matte, canvas, poster, whatever. Small sizes are available as well as BIG sizes - up to 78"x52" in size. Just use the options in the upper right hand corner of this page to choose the size you'd like - leave it plain as a poster print or add framing options. No need to wait any more!!
