Something very special for you today - a new painting featuring a brand new "Strangeling Frame" (my best yet) - and it's also a BOOK Illustration! Also lots of sale prints are up.
I have a beautiful, amazingly unique painting for you - a collaboration between myself (the artist) and my husband Matt (the framer/woodcrafter) which combines both 2-dimensional painted elements as well as 3-dimensional sculptural elements! Not only is it a stunning painting - it also has an ORIGINAL "Strangeling Frame"! The frame was handcrafted and hand-cast by myself & Matt - in fact the frame itself contains some of my 3-d wide eyed beauties! It is way too cool! You really have to see this one (link is below) to see what I mean.

This painting is an illustration for an upcoming book of short stories! Her name is "Poe" - a character in the book - she has a steampunk flair, living in a neo-Victorian world combining fairytale whimsy with arcane technology. I've painted poe in a fantastic scene, airship in the distance, bizarre gadgets and goggles in hand. Distant factories steam industry in the background, as Poe haunts the local trainstation. There is a phenomenal amount of detail in this piece, I'm very proud of it. She is on a gothic-style peaked wood panel (masonite) with a stunning carved wood and cast resin frame. The framing/panel almost looks like something you'd see in a Renaissance or Medieval art museum - much like an old altar piece. The frame is actually part of the panel itself -combining the 3-dimensional characters along with the painting on the panel. At the top of the frame is a magnificent ornate casting featuring an art nouveau style ornament of one of my Strangeling girls, and there are multiple cast resin Strangelings clutching cast resin cogs, gears, and other clockwork bits (all part of the sculpture cast in lightweight resin). Other details enhance the framing, which is all a hand-painted (by me!) silver and aged/antiqued brass patina. The painting is quite large - I've even posted a photo of myself standing with it in the auction. It is READY TO HANG! I am so happy I am able to start creating works like these, and by collaborating with my husband and his workshop, I truly have made my dream a reality, especially now that we are branching into TRULY original frames! It really has to be seen in person to appreciate it! It is an original acrylic painting on masonite and it is up for a 10-day auction on eBay starting at just ONE PENNY with NO reserve - the auction will be ending on the afternoon/evening of Tuesday, July 29th at 7:01 PM Central Time. Click below to see all of the lovely details & closeups:
And a head's up - I have a TON of $10 prints up for sale this week! Old and new, there are over 20 SALE prints of mine currently available, click below:
Today on my bike ride through the jungle/swamp by my house, I saw a total of 11 wild hogs (feral pigs, that live wild here in Florida). Usually on that trail I see them now, but usually just a couple of them, 3 or 4 if I'm lucky, but today I saw several families, totalling 11. It's hard to believe they all live so close by. They were all oinking a lot, hehe. Saw only one alligator, but he was pretty good sized (watch out piggies!).
I've been watching the E3 coverage on G4 TV - I'm excited about the Animal Crossing Wii announcement!
I have a great new original painting to show you!
"Lighting the Way" is her name - measuring 16"x20" - original acrylics on sheet of canvas. It's a moody scene of a little goth fairy/angel (with SHORT hair, which is rare for me!) taking a nighttime walk. She has an elaborate lantern which is lighting her way in the dark. She has a beautiful dress and dark feathery wings - it's a peaceful, yet evocative scene, and truly a lovely painting. This original painting is up on eBay starting at just ONE PENNY with no reserve for a 7-Day auction ending the evening of Tuesday, July 22nd at 5:42PM Central Time. You can see it below:
I've got another particularly cool piece in the works now I should have finished soon - it's a book illustration, WITH a "Strangeling Frame" that is my best yet.
Fantastic update for you - three originals - one is a huge framed painting that is perhaps one of my best pieces yet! The other two are new original drawings. Also I have a link to one of my now-sold-out Lt. Ed. Statues that is up for a charity auction.
The huge new original painting is called "Nymphs Collecting Berries." I do feel that personally it is one of my best, most beautiful, and most well-painted pieces to date. Inspired by my recent trip to France (specifically the landscape around the Alphonse de Lamartine estate), I have painted three bewitching nymphs enjoying the Burgundy countryside. It shows what might superficially be seen as a lighthearted scene - berry picking, with an impromptu picnic. After spending some time with this painting though, you will notice that it really has more of a rather somber feeling to it, with some ominous overtones and an approaching storm. This is a painting I can't stop myself from staring at, and the wading nymph really does seem to stare back at me. There's something special about this piece - I've sold many paintings over the past decade, it's always bittersweet parting with them - but this one will truly be missed, I hope it goes somewhere where it will be appreciated. There is an excruciating amount of detail in it, individual blades of grass, distant farmlands, glistening berries, juice stained fingers, delicate ripples and waterplants - there is a lot going on in this piece. "Nymphs Collecting Berries" is quite large - I've even posted a photo of myself standing with it in the auction (see the below) to show size. It is about 32" high and 20" wide, and the wood trim is probably about an inch thick. Matt built the wood trim frame right onto the masonite panel and added a hanger on the back, so it is READY TO HANG! I have also finished with a glossy varnish. This original painting is up on eBay starting at just ONE PENNY with no reserve for a 10-Day auction ending the evening of Tuesday, July 22nd 7:20PM Central Time. You can see it below:
Many details & more info can be found in the auction listing, as well as the frame/trim images.
I've been having fun with this - here are a couple of lovely original drawings in the OSWOATM size (4"x6"). These are ORIGINAL DRAWINGS, not prints of any kind. Both are pencil & charcoals on toned cardstock, are 4"x6" and are absolutely beautiful. When I was in France I spent a good deal of time drawing, and realized how much I enjoy it. So here we have a "To Love a Frog Drawing" and a "Persephone Drawing" - up on eBay for 7-Day auctions ending the evening of Friday, July 18th at 7:10 PM & 7:15 PM Central Time. Click on the thumbnail sneak peeks below to see the whole drawings!
And for those of you in search of my Lt. Ed. Statue "Lost...but Not Worried" (now sold out!) - my friend Jennifer has listed one for auction up on eBay. The auction is a fundraiser for Timmy, a little boy in need of several heart surgeries and most likely a heart transplant, so check out this and her other auctions as well. These statues are HARD to find now, so this is your chance!
After just getting home, it's hard to believe I'm leaving again in the morning. I normally would never schedule myself that hectically on purpose, but as the timing/date of the art class and of the 4th of July (duh!) are both out of my hands, that's just how it worked out this year. I've been busy though....
Some exciting stuff for today! I have my big original "Queen Elizabeth" painting up for a penny auction, I have two new original DRAWINGS (oswoa sized!), and and I also have a few brand new ACEO Cards as well!! This will be my last update for a few days. Please bid with confidence though - I'll be back in plenty of time before these auctions end, so there will be absolutely no delays!
First off is "Queen Elizabeth and the Lion" - some of you may have seen her before - she's one of the most magnificent Tudor style portraits I've done, and she was up in my eBay store, but as I'm streamlining my studio and preparing new original paintings for some conventions & art shows this fall (Dragon*Con & FaerieCon!), I thought I'd put her up for an eBay penny auction, so everybody can get a chance at her!

"Queen Elizabeth and a Lion" is her name - being a bit of a history buff, I've long been obsessed with Tudor history and art, especially portraits of Queen Elizabeth I. She always wore the best clothes, and wasn't shy to pile on the jewelry! I've honoured her with this new, original painting - showing her in all of her splendor with a magnificent lion (a historical symbol of British royalty & the power of the monarchy, etc.). You'll see many tiny details in here, including several incarnations of the "Tudor Rose" (a symbol for the family's dynasty). This painting truly will bring an air of mystery, elegance, and history to any room. She is on a sturdy 16x20" masonite panel and already varnished, which means you can pretty much pop her into any open wood 16x20 frame you like, no glass needed. This original painting is up on eBay starting at just ONE PENNY with no reserve for a 10-Day auction ending the evening of Friday, July 11th at 7:00PM Central Time. You can see her below:
Next up - a brand new type of artwork from me - due to popular demand! So many of you (you know who you are!) have been requesting that I occasionally list original drawings or sketches in addition to my usual original paintings. So just to try it out - I thought I'd do a couple of lovely original drawings in the OSWOAâ„¢ size (4"x6"). These are ORIGINAL DRAWINGS, not prints of any kind. Both are pencil & charcoals on toned cardstock, are 4"x6" and are absolutely beautiful. When I was in France I spent a good deal of time drawing, and realized how much I enjoy it. So here we have a "To Love a Frog Drawing" and a "Persephone Drawing" - up on eBay for 10-Day auctions ending the evening of Friday, July 11th at 7:03PM & 7:06PM Central Time.
Now for the new ACEOs - for more info about ACEO cards, how I make them & what they are (basically tiny hand embellished one of a kind canvas prints, trading card sized and highly collectable), consult the individual auction descriptions - they are each one of a kind, hand-painted with accents by me, the artist, and are awesome! All are starting at a penny, with no reserve for ten-day auctions ending on the evening of Friday, July 11th 6:45PM - 6:56PM Central Time:

I'm back from my art trip to France! I had a WONDERFUL time! I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Over the next few weeks you will surely see a lot of new artwork from me inspired by my trip. I'm still getting settled in (jet lag!) and surely I'll do a much better post about my trip later, hopefully with photos, etc. I had so much fun, even better than our last class there! Larry is awesome as always, and of course my good friends Delphine () and Steven () were there, which was wonderful, and my other great friends (Tammy, Chad, Kelly, Donna, Gonzague) and new friends (Tom, Jeff, Cedric & Jason) and others of course. I finally got to go see the Louvre, and am already planning to go back to spend much more time there.
Today I have a bunch of my new (and old!) paintings available as #01 Canvas Prints up for auction. Since I'm now home - all of you who ordered signed & personalized works while I was gone - I've now signed & personalized everything and they are going out today! Also - another head's up - I'll be out of town shortly (again!) - this time just visiting my family for Independence Day, so I've included some important ordering info below.
Again - I will be leaving for Kansas City soon (even though I just got home!)! Don't worry - as long as you have paid for any orders/auctions by noon tomorrow (the 2nd), I will still ship before I go, otherwise everything will ship after I get back home on June 8th. My eBay store is going "on pause" (ie, the store items & framed originals have "disappeared" but will "reappear" when I get home!) - everything will be back to normal when I come home. You can still place orders on my website while I'm gone - please just remember they will ship after I get back home. In the meantime, I will be listing many new eBay auctions (including these new canvas prints) over the next 2-3 days, so feel free to bid on all of those as usual, as they'll be ending after I'm home with no delay!
The new Lt. Ed. #01/25 Hand Embellished Canvas Prints are now up for auction for several of my paintings - Belle of Bonaventure, Swamp Blossom, Pug Pixie, Lamenting the Forgotten, Wings of the Night, Fairy Group Portrait II, Shell Collector, Phoenix Tattoo, Armful of Frogs, & Dorothy in the Poppies - each is up for a 10-day auction on eBay starting at just a penny with NO reserve - the auctions will be ending on the evening of Thursday, July 10th at 5:24 - 7:01 PM Central Time.
