I
have always loved fall. I don't know if it's the cool nights or the
warm colors that pop up everywhere, but it is my favorite time of year.
Up here in New Hampshire some trees have decided that fall will come
early and have already begun their glorious change into reds, oranges
and yellows. We've even had a few days already where we needed to load
the wood burning stove up and warm the house in the morning.
With
signs of fall my thoughts turn to Halloween, another favorite of mine.
But before Halloween gets here Faeriecon, a convention for all things
faerie happens. This year I will again be joining lots of wonderful
artists, musicians and writers at this weekend long event. If you are
able to attend please stop by the Faerie Magazine booth and say hello! For more information about Faeriecon visit their site here. It runs from October10-12.
At
Faeriecon I will be selling hand-dyed kits, patterns and original works
of art. I will also be accepting custom orders and premiering TWO new
patterns. There is a sneak peek of one of them on the top of the page.
If you cannot make it to Faeriecon, no worries. I will list the two
patterns the following week on my website, etsy and patternmart.
This
summer brought a promotion from Faerie Magazine. I am now the fiber
arts section editor. That means I'll be scouting the world for
fantastic fiber artists, whether they are working with fabric, wool,
paper, knitting, collage, sculpting, you name it. If it's a fiber
artist that works within the faerie, fairy tale, mythological world, I
want to meet them. If you know of an artist that you would like to see
featured in Faerie Magazine, please send their information to me!! This
fall's issue is the first that I've been section editor for, and I
can't wait to show you the wonderful artists I've found. Not only from
the US, but the UK and as far away as Estonia. This is very exciting!
A new tutorial !
If you've been hesitant to try making a pea pod or goblin baby because of the hair or needle felted eyes check this
out. I've posted a cool, full color tutorial on my blog showing you
exactly how I do the eyes and hair. I even show you how to do eyelids
and brows. See it here!
And another cool tutorial!
My
friend Phee Mcfaddell and I teamed up to bring you an illustrated
tutorial for dyeing wool with Kool-aid. There is even a cool dragon
ornament project to go along with it. Check it out here. There is also a link to PheeMcfaddell.com where you can share awesome fantasy coloring pages, gift boxes, puppets and stories with the little ones in your life. (or even yourself! I love to color!)
