About Me: Closing in on 40 and still wondering what I'll be when I grow up. For now I'm in web/graphic design. I started making jewellery a year ago and maybe that's the future. Don't know yet. BUT first, foremost and always, I'm a writer. Mainly poetry but I have written a couple stories.

I'm the Pres of a non-profit, active in the LOTR/Tolkien community called The White Tree Fund (www.whitetreefund.org). We try to help out where it's needed. We published our first edition of our journal Silver Leaves last year. If you're a Tolkien/fantasy fan, please check it out! We have a call for submissions out right now. If you're interested check out the Silver Leaves link at our site or email/message me. Artists, reviewer, writers of all kinds are welcome. Any age, any experience. :)

Chpt 1: In which I arrive

    Thursday, April 3, 2008, 10:59 PM [Poems]

Wow. I just found this site the other day and was in a mood for joining things, so here I am! I quite like the look of the community so I hope I can really contribute something. (:

    I ARRIVE

around the corner, down the way
    there is a gate,
    opened just a crack
    and if you walk, shuffling
    through the ever-falling golden leaves
    the meandering path
will cross a singing brook where
    pebbles glow under the water
if you remember to look down
    you will see

    walk past the alder grove
    and the one giant redwood
himself a freak, growing far away
from his kin, but content in his
    neighbours and sentinel duty
    through the shrubs, you
    will spot a house
    that looks like any other

to the door, the path will lead
    up the dusty red steps
    and across the sunlit verandah
where before the door there is
a mat saying "all may enter,
    all are welcome"

the house inside is bigger than you think
the rooms leading to other realms
    the doorways offering life-changing
    moments and decisions
silver, gold and the dust of far-away
    will settle in your veins
    so have a care

but if your heart is as mine
    you will enter and wander
until your soul settles and your
belief glistens with the dew of
    the stories of ages
then, my friend, you will know
what i mean when i tell you
    that i've arrived
