I'm
off to WISCON this coming week with the Cobweb Forest!
If you're
attending be sure to stop by our art table and say "Hello". We'll be
showing various film clips of our work. I'll also be at the IAF
gathering Sunday morning, contributing to the bake sale, and Connie is
sitting on a few panels. I'm so looking forward to meeting many I just
know over the internet, and sitting in on many fascinating panels and
lectures!
At our table we'll have a dvd available of our various
collaborations - The Cliff, The Wild Hunt, The Painted Ghost, (films
I've used Connie's images in) The House of Voluntary Bondage, Pandora's
Box, and we've put the Cobweb Forest on there as well. I'll also have a
dvd compilation of some of my short films: Scheherazade, Snow Queen,
and a three minute preview of my mermaid film. As well as a completed
A: The Siren's Edda. Finally, a sneak preview of TITANIA.
There is a 4 minute video I edited for my friend Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes on YouTube. She is creating a dog cake. :) The cake is amazing! And the process is a lot of fun to watch.
A
six minute behind the scenes video of our first day of shooting on TITANIA is
now up on the Dantes Heart Journal of Myth, Folklore, Fairy Tale and Fantasy.
Issue
2 of the Journal is titled "The Seven Sages". Click on on"A Day
on the Set of Titania" to view the video. There is a high res version that
takes a few minutes to load, and then a link to a low res version on YouTube. www.DantesHeart.com
The
documentary shows clips from the actual film, as well as behind the scenes
footage on location and of rehearsals. It also tells you the story of TITANIA
and the trilogy of The Medisaga.
Wednesday we shot the first scene of TITANIA, and have posted photos from
the set. The image above shows Keith Chandler (as Nicholas) and Victoria Hay (as
Titania). And there are more to view via the links below.
Landscapes figure prominently in fairy tales, if not as separate characters
themselves. We shot one scene this week on location where we'll shoot the rest
of the film in September, giving us the effect of season changes for the film.
This scene is a dream sequence in which Titania suddenly sees the landscape of
her estate winter laden and stripped bare. The metaphor is that of clairty - no
leaves on the trees to block her view into the forest that haunts her, the sun
vibrant and blinding when it comes out from behind the clouds. In the beginning
of this scene she lifts a veil as though unveiling the truth - she is starting
to put together the pieces of the puzzle, and when she wakes from the dream in
the film has strength and insight she didn't have before. The veil is also black - and she unveils herself from fear and darkness. Hence the fiery colored underskirts of her costume which fortell the brightness coming to her life.
Our shoot day was amazing! The landscape at the park where we shot was
golden and dry from the winter, making all of our shots look like beautiful
Andrew Wyeth paintings (if he had painted fairy tales). Geese were swimming in
the lake you can see in the picture above, and a falcon was flying overhead all
day bringing food to her babies in their giant nest, aloft one of the trees next
to where we were shooting. You don't get that on the set of "Law & Order".
We're very happy with the footage and the scene is currently being edited.
Once complete we'll have post a clip from the scene for all to see, and use it to generate buzz and resources to shoot the rest of the film!
Hi Lisa
Thank you for sharing this with us. I love the process of film making and can't wait to learn more about this venture. Good luck with the rest of the shoot.
Hello Lisa, thank you for being part of the EF community. The photos you have posted are amazing, and you decorate cakes beautifully too - is there no end to your talents...
Smiles,
Wow Lisa !, Reading your page and following the links I got chills. This looks like a very exciting project. and ambitious. Seems You and i are travelling on roughly the same path. Delightfully different approaches but The Passion is the same. I think i probably have a million questions for you. I worked for years in the film buisness In LALA Land but had to escape to save my self. So much of wht ive read in your profile I have never heard of before. I hope we communicate more. I feel like ive stumbled into a very strange land with no Map quest directions
