Maiden Sketches
On June 12th we have a little soiree for TITANIA. If you're in NYC and would like to come - let me know!
After that, the next order of business is to take some "official" photos. The image below has always been a major source of inspiration for the TITANIA poster. It's Gustave Dore's "Virtues". Titania has three maidens, sort of like the three graces or muses. Our costume designer, Bobbi Ribbing, has come up with some sketches for the dresses and I thought I'd share. They will be a pale blue - which will show up nicely against the green trees and bright sunlight and blonde hair of the actresses.
The maidens are so interesting to me. In the first film they are named Artemesia, Miranda, and Cassandra. (after the painter, the Tempest, and Agamemnon - respectively) They are more than dressers or servants - each has her own story and journey to be revealed in the trilogy. At times they mirror the life that Titania is living, and at times antagonize it. They help her and seek out her help. And we've just added the character of Hippolyta and her maidens. There is one scene in which the two queens and their maidens meet. We cast for Hippolyta tomorrow and I'm very excited to see what new person will come aboard the project!
I'll post the official photos after we take them this summer. ~Lisa
Teaser Trailer for FADE
I just got back from a wonderful myth/folklore conference where I sat in on several fascinating panels, and met such interesting writers and artists. My brain is over full and I need a few days to process it all. :)
In the meantime I wanted to share a teaser trailer from a new project I have in the works tentatively called "FADE". This is a short experimental film about the cycles of life, told through images of each season. I'm doing this with artist Connie Toebe (whom I also did the Cobweb Forest with). I stopped by her lovely 1920's bungalow home in Chicago on my way to the conference and we spent a full day in her attic shooting footage - using rear projections - making ourselves into life size shadow puppets.
And on the topic of video news - the cake video I did for Elisa Strauss has, for some bizarre but most welcome, reason received over 580,000 views on YouTube in just two weeks!! Woo Hoo! Dog Cake Video
Hope you enjoy it all!

Off to WISCON!
I'm off to WISCON this coming week with the Cobweb Forest!
If you're attending be sure to stop by our art table and say "Hello". We'll be showing various film clips of our work. I'll also be at the IAF gathering Sunday morning, contributing to the bake sale, and Connie is sitting on a few panels. I'm so looking forward to meeting many I just know over the internet, and sitting in on many fascinating panels and lectures!
At our table we'll have a dvd available of our various collaborations - The Cliff, The Wild Hunt, The Painted Ghost, (films I've used Connie's images in) The House of Voluntary Bondage, Pandora's Box, and we've put the Cobweb Forest on there as well. I'll also have a dvd compilation of some of my short films: Scheherazade, Snow Queen, and a three minute preview of my mermaid film. As well as a completed A: The Siren's Edda. Finally, a sneak preview of TITANIA.
Hope to see some of you there!

Behind the Scenes of TITANIA!
Hi Everyone,
A six minute behind the scenes video of our first day of shooting on TITANIA is now up on the Dantes Heart Journal of Myth, Folklore, Fairy Tale and Fantasy.
Issue 2 of the Journal is titled "The Seven Sages". Click on on"A Day on the Set of Titania" to view the video. There is a high res version that takes a few minutes to load, and then a link to a low res version on YouTube. www.DantesHeart.com
The documentary shows clips from the actual film, as well as behind the scenes footage on location and of rehearsals. It also tells you the story of TITANIA and the trilogy of The Medisaga.
Hope you enjoy!
xo, Lisa
