Hi everybody Im the Faerie Queen Orchid Lament. As if there was any doubt. I mean my god look at me. I couldnt be
any more Fae if I tried. Who better to be a fairey Queen Than a big ole Faerie. People all the time
ask me why do you act so damn flamboyent .Why do you flounce and prance and always have to be so
fabulous! I tell them "My god have you ever tried it?" Its wonderful. Every body should act like a Faerie
at least everyonce and awhile. Can you imagine trying to have a war if everybody looked glamourous all the time . It
just wouldnt happen. Nobody would want to muss there hair or chip a nail. Ever tried to goosestep in
highheels darling It just isnt going to happen.
Music: I like music with sound. It makes it so much easier to hear that way.
Movies: Well I grew up a big horror movie fan as well as Sci fi and fantasy. Duh! I worked for and many of my friends both living dead are some of the greatest performers in this genre. They all thought I was nuts too.
    TV: Dr. Who Rules!
Books: Will read just about anything unless its by right wing nut job.
Likes: I like art and beauty and magic and animals and cemetaries and performing on stage and film. I like Drag and costumes and makeup and corsets and most important I like life !
    Dislikes: I dislike gravity.
Hobbies: going anywhere and doing anything that involves pagentry pomp pretense and escapism.
Vices: I dont drink or do drugs But I am 100 percent behind his whole sex concept. its a good idea i hope it catches on. In the interest of full disclosure Under another nondeplume and i am a internationally infamous kinkster. But in a nice way not in a scary Silence of the Lambs way.
Virtues: I have thanked the Goddess for my unique ability to accessorize.
Heroes: Vincent Price Elvira Mistress of the dark.Groucho Marx. Marliyn Monroe, Dolly Levi, Auntie Mame, My sister, Mistress Barbara Darke and Mistress Kiva, Mistress Cyan and strong assertive aspects of the Goddess found in women everywhere. and of course that wonderful Drag Queen who used o skate through the city in faerie wings and pink dress when i was working down town. You were always moving to damn fast to ever stop you and talk but your courage inspired me. I hope you are blissfully happy whereever you are.

    Snapback &Thistleplum The Movie.

    Thursday, June 17, 2010, 12:16 AM [General]

Its been over a year since i posted Snap Back and Thistle plum to Enchanted Folk.  Its been only slightly less time since i last posted anything here. There is a reason for that.  Ever since i wrote that story Its been gnawing on my Medula Oblongata demanding something more. It wanted to be made in to a movie.  I kept telling the damn thing that it was too special effects intensive. I didnt have the skills or the resources to do it some semblance of justice. It wouldn't shut up. It wouldnt lie down and be a amusing thought I could forget about.  Soooooo I gave in. I started writing a script. I decided to learn the new technology  Chromakey and Green screen and all the Techno voodoo and computer alchemy to make it happen. I started working for a very understanding sister who invested in equipment and soon I had a portable studio and cameras for getting it done. I created costumes and grabbed the people around me who actually still listen to my ideas and cast them or pressed them into service.  Finally its done and this is the result.  A super low budget but i think really fun little faerie tale. Please tell me what you think.  Loves at ya!

The Greatest faerie Tale Never Told

    Sunday, March 1, 2009, 12:43 AM [General]

I have been on a very strange journey with the faeries and they took me far away from Enchanted and into strange realms but they gave me to bring back to you. My fine faerie fae friennds. Is a story. Its called the Greatest Faerie Tale Never Told " and i present it here for you. Its not really a story you tell with words .Its not even a stroy you can illustrate. Its a story you tell you tell with imagination.

When i returned from this journey I set down to sketch as quickly as i could the story elements as they were related to me Terrble fevered pencil sketches. .Because remembering what faeries say isnt easy. There words and gestures and there forms seem to slip to the edges of subconcious like mercury rolling off a sphere. but i did remember one thing is how to tell this story to others. They were quite clear on that But i needed help.

Soo i took my crappy sketches to my sister who owns a fabulous art studio and employs a small army of sculpters and i show her my drawings and told her the story fully expecting her to laugh in my face and send me packing. But in the faerie magical way that this tale has. she got it. She loved it. She imediately set about a way to justify the expense of telling it to a larger audience.

She gathered her army of artists and they all heard the tale in there imaginations and we all went to work. Each artist wrpped in the faerie magic and each artist took on a different detail from the story Now three months later the maquettes are finally finished and I can show you Now The Greates faerie tale Never Told and you can hear the story in your own imagination.  Below is the sculpture assembled . The final peice will be 20 feet high and approximatly take up another twnety feet of space on the ground. It incorporates work in plastic fiber glass Bronze glass and many other mediums and sits on a mosaic tiled pool .If all goes well its final home will be the MaXX  contempary art muesuem In rome where it will stand for years telling the tale to all who care to imagine it  I hope you like it. and i hope this little description isnt too cryptic All of the elements from concept ro execution can be found In my pictures .It is truelly the faeries Opus work.

St. George The Dragon and Orchid Lament?

    Sunday, December 21, 2008, 3:52 AM [General]

Special plea for help. and No im not dead. Life has just taken some very strange turns of late. and Ive been working in the (shudder) Private sector. As many of you know im making some huge transformational changes inmy life. And they are very expensive .Far beyond my means to afford. Doesnt mean i deteerred in the slightest simply means I have to work allot harder to get what I need. to feel whole. Which brinfgs me to this special plea to the Enchanted Community. If you have ever liked my art or one of my stories has made you laugh or cry or even if you find me even the slightest bit entertaining at all. I have a favor to ask. To pay for my transformation. I have taken a job with Cooper and Ciunnigham LLC designing Public art works projects aaround the world. The designs alone will not get me to my goal but the conceptual art bonus will. If even one of these projects is chosen I will be able to afford all the procedures nessary to take me from where im at now to becomming the total Femme faerie I am inside. The first of these projects is a sculpture for The St. George Cathedral In australia. I was surpised to learn that the public is voting on this .so if you could please go to he website and vote I promise that if it wins. I will use every penny to do wonderful magic things And I will spread that faerie magic as far as it takes me. Thank you so very much for the Support I love You all  heres the addie http://www.sculptureproject.org.au/submissions/view/vote/?id=118

Hi Orchid, We've missed you! I've placed my vote! Very interesting project. I had a little look at some of the other entries; You know I would have voted for you rather than anyone else on principle anyway, but truthfully...I think yours was the best design! The concept was unique (yet still recognisable as George & the Dragon!) in your use of the stained glass & how you used the water to become part of the piece I would love to see it actually made! Good luck!

The sex and sexuality of faerie. (Warning Adult themed Idea)

    Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 2:02 AM [General]

Hi everybody ,I have been in terrible qaundry lately . As many of you know i  have more ythan one duality going in my life it may possibly be qaudality or Octality or even more but heres the thing/ On one side I enjoy writing faerie Stories and doing faerie art very much .Sweet Femme creatures in high glamour and flowing gowns. But on the other hand I am also better known in the art world as a erotic artist.  and performer. Abnd though some might disagree. i believe the fae to be sexual creatures. .

As i wirte these days trying to stick within the Victorian parameters of what faeries were supposedly said to be I find myself leaning more towards a much older and i think more acurate interpretation of  The fae and there function in human interaction.

I brought this up with the Powers that BE here at Enchanted Folk and it was suggested that i start a Adult faerie Group .  This would be a private group with age limits and disclaimers and all such safe gaurds to protect more fragile creatures from harm. it would not be a place for pornography or exploitation but rather for expression and exploration of the most elusive and closely gaurded of secrets of the fae. A place where fae can be viewed  in context and exaimined as Three dimensional creatures rather than vague archtypes.

But first i thought id throw this idea out there and see if there was any interest  before launching a group. Now i dont want this to sound as dry as all that .it should still be playful life affirming and uplifting and yes more than little sexy Possibly gritty even a we bit tarnished around the edges. Things only hinted at in modern fiction and art  as it stands now. What do you think.?

feel free to post a comment positive or negative. Its your first impressions Im looking for because Number 1 Im here to enhance Enchanted Folk not detract from its charm. If the fae dont want it then im not going there .All im asking is that I get to know one way or other. its good information to have for my future faerie involvment. Thanks so much in advance for your imput and i look forward to reading your thoughts.

I've never really subscribed to the notion of Victorian Faeries, preferring to believe that the ancient legends were much more accurate; The Fae were very earthy and sensual -- there are many tales of seduction, kidnapping to possess beauty, children produced as a result of seductions... Even Shakespeare had Titania bespelled to lust after Bottom, who was wearing a donkey's head. I say go for it...

I agree with previous comment - you should not restrict your art from flowing into the less beaten paths, and there is nothing offensive in erotism and/or nudity and/or seduction. I would love to see that artwork! Nature itself is a constant orgy of reproduction, survival and death, and that is what makes it so glorious.

i think this group is a great idea! For all the reasons everyone has already mentioned, Faerie is nature, which in its very essence is wild, free & sensual. Be sure to let us know when you set it up!

I think this is the coolest thing I've heard, I love hearing the stories of people colaborating. Jim Henson had crappy sketches of his story, the Dark Crystal, and found Brian Froud to flesh out the design. I love the end product of your ideas.

Orchid, First of all, thank you so much for your kind friend request. As to your sept 10 quandary: it's probably not so much a question of whether the Faerie World would be comfortable with your work; the Fae are nothing if not the spiritual outpicturings of our Blessed Mother Nature, and our Mother is nothing if not ... natural - sensual. I dare say that none of us would be here at all if at some level we (our parents, that is) weren't tuning in to an inner sensuality. The question really is: how comfortable can our strongly culturally restricted view of our true selves be with your work? I think your work acknowledges that part of our deep inner knowing that is so often avoided. Your work is intriguing and points in a healthy natural direction. Please keep going.
