Im back! Im back Im back! I missed you all very much. There has been soo very much going on i couldnt even blog about in a hundred posts. But it all fabulous. I mean really fabulous! The Faerie magic is courseing through life and like all faerie glamour its as unpredictable and strange as it ought to be.
So im just going to focus in on one thing thats happened . Years back i wrote a little show called The Diamond Dead with my music partner Richard Hartley ( You might remember him he wrote the music for something called the Rocky Horror Show. he is such a showoff.) Diamond Dead about a struggling Rock Band who meet an untimely demise in a freak subwoofer accident. There manager Aria De Winter wont let them rest in peace however and makes a deal with death to raise them from the grave in exchange for the delivery of 100 souls due on Halloween Night. Aria being slightly amoral takes the deal thinking she would worry about payment when the time comes. The band are reanimated but they come back as flesh eating zombies. Really nice guys but cannibalistic carrion eaters non the less. Now one year later they have climbed almost to the top of the music scene and are having there big world debut concert.
Now anybody who has read my strange little faerie tales knows I cant tell such a grim story with out it balancing out in the end .and turning a certain slaughter into a positive thing. All my stories have to have positive life affirming message. This showwas my first attempt at writing myself into a corner to challenge myself. in this way.but im afraid you have to see the show to see what i mean.
Any way. In 2004 a little theater company in Washington DC asked to produce this story as a play and the people all involved said sure. What the heck. Go nuts. and they didit they did it beautifully. They have been playing this as a midnight show ever since .
I hadnt heard from the DC cast in almost two years When suddenly my private email in box explodes with congratulations. Turns out Diamond Dead won Best musical at the Washington DC Fringe Festival. I couldnt believe it. The Landless theater blew the doors off the Festival They even beat out the best that the West End and Broadway could enter. A true underdog story. SO needless to say Ive been a little preoccupied with this wild development But im going to be posting here again as The faeries compel me to get back in touch with all the Fae. Life is beautiful isnt it. Here are pics from the show.
