About Me: I've been a very secluded fairy for many years and hope to find and make some new friends, and even advisors, in the fairy world. My sisters and I were raised to believe by our very creative mother. Even now, in our adult years, we all see the beauty, magic and light of other realms. And I so wish I had wings.
Music: Many things from Celtic to Cajun to Rock to Classical. Eventually, I'll make a more descriptive list.
Movies: Happy Ones. And exciting ones. No scary ones! Practical Magic, The Craft, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Laurel Canyon, Harry Potter, Tortilla Soup, The Crow, pretty much anything with Johnny Depp :)
TV: I don't really watch t.v., but when I do it usually seems to be detective/sleuth shows. I love searching out answers.
Books: As many and as often as I possibly can! Which is pretty many and pretty often since I don't really watch t.v. Some favorite authors are Daphne DuMaurier, Charles DeLint, George Elliot. I do enjoy books on faeries, magic and love.
Likes: Dancing, moonlight, woods, streams, ocean, beach, rain, jewelry, chocolate, eating, cooking, baking, costumes, wings, shoes, make-up, glitter, bubbles, sparkly & shiny things and lots and lots of other stuff
Dislikes: Mean people. Onions (not the flavor, mind you, just the food.) Being cold. Being hungry (makes me a tad bit cranky.) Inconsiderate folks.
Hobbies: Baking & cooking. Making jewelry (though one day this will be more than a hobbie.) Collecting odd bits.
    Vices: Sleeping too much.
Virtues: Wanting to take care of everyone.
Heroes: My Dad - for always being there and taking care of us. Vandal.

    Opportunity!!

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 06:54 AM EST [General]

I'm quite excited about this!  The other day I was out watching the preparation of my neighbors vegetable garden and during chatting it turns out another neighbor is also a jewelry maker.

Apparently he will be opening a shop in the cute little stone building on the property and has invited me to put some of my pieces in there!  I can hardly wait!

He's been making jewelry since he was fifteen - going out on a limb to think it's been at least 30 years then (at least...) - and has made pieces for Sammy Davis Jr and Cher! Quite fascinating.  What fascinates me more is that he's going to teach me how to solder and I'm sure I'll learn much more from him!

I feel this is such a perfect opportunity, because I don't have to start right out making a hundred pieces to sell.

OH, it's going to be so much fun!!

    Bad Photography-check. Good Jewelry-?

Tuesday, March 4, 2008, 10:20 PM EST [General]

Well, I've finally uploaded some very unprofessional, taken with my camera phone pictures of some pieces I've made.

I'm nervous.  But I'd very much appreciate feedback (taking into consideration you can't see the pieces all that well, but you all have creative eyes!)  I'd so love to make jewelry as my livelihood, but am so nervous about it.  I lack the confidence I should have to venture out.

I keep thinking "but I just made it.  Just me.  With my hands.... Why would people buy it?"

Of course, my friends and family all say the things I make are beautiful, but, well, they are my loved ones!

I just need to know if these look like things actual people might buy?

Thank you.  Oh, and please be gentle!

    Yuck

Tuesday, February 12, 2008, 01:19 PM EST [General]

I'm stuck home sick today.  Probably needless to say I hate that!  While not going to work is simply fine, I hate not being able to do anything else because I feel so yucky.

I've slept the morning away and will probably soon sleep the rest of the afternoon away as well.  I could be using this valuable time to make jewelry, but instead I have to sleep.

Maybe this evening I'll have jewelry making energy.  I really do want to get some done so I can perhaps sell it!

I hope everyone else is having a happy, healthy, productive day.  And my condolences to those who are not.

    Hello.

Sunday, January 27, 2008, 10:30 AM EST [General]

Well, this is me. And I'm not really sure what to say.  I know I'm certainly hoping to make some new faery friends, as I have really none at present.  I've led a rather secluded faery life and there is so much I do not know and certainly need to!

Please feel free to ask me anything, as long as you're not being creepy.

    Best Wishes,

    P. Pixie
