About Me: I am a Mom with plenty of Kid left in me. I have been an artist since I could hold a pencil and still love it. I do my art as often as possible, but with working a full time job,it gets hard to find the time.I have always loved Faeries but it has been these last few years going thru separation and divorce that the Fair Folk really became apparent in my life. It has been them I need to thank for guiding me and my children thru that yucky transition. Faeries are still a huge part of my life and thoughts. Therefore I am thrilled to find this site. I am looking forward to meeting new and interesting people that support faery beliefs and also believe in the power of art.

Hi to all my enchanted friends!!

Thank you all for your support through my rough time...I have still not quite found the magnitude of faery spirit as I once had...but it is coming...My art is back on and I am currently working on two commissioned pieces. I have never done this before but it is going very well...and most of all, I am enjoying doing them. When they are finished I will post them in my gallery.  I just wanted to wish everyone  a very happy holiday season and be safe.

Dear Leisa, Sorry to hear this...I see in your mood status you are recovering from surgery. While your body is healing you need to relax as much as possible and be kind to yourself :) Perhaps this is why you are feeling lost at the moment, but you possibly just need time to let your body heal. Blessings and I hope you feel well soon :)

Hi Leisa, I agree with Suzanne, you must give your body chance to recover from your surgery. Be kind to yourself, spend time with the Fae in meditation if possible outside in Nature. That way you will be able to communicate with the Fae. Remember to ask them for their help as they will not impose on you. Why not keep a journal of exactly how you are feeling right now. Also while you are resting read an uplifting spiritual book. We all at sometime have to go into the darkness to appreciate the light! I am sending you pink bubbles of love filled with healing and abundant fairy blessings. Love and light Liz xxx

Hi Leisa, I happened to read your blog entry... I really understand you (had a similar period last year) it was a kind of depression for me...I got back to myself by reading spiritual books and trying to avoid everything which made me sad or loose energy, and search for everything which gave me peace and joy. Also be a lot in the kitchen and in the garden :) I hope you will get better slowly but steadily (which is better than a small up and then down again!)

    Calling Doll Sculptors??

    Sunday, August 3, 2008, 10:52 PM [General]

I have always been interested in sculpting dolls....I  am wondering if there are any doll sculptors out there that can give me a few beginner pointers.  I have worked a little with clay,  but Id really like to know the beginning steps to doll sculpting so I can start practising.  What products are good? How do I go about making wings? What paint is best? What tools are used?   But most of all...Id like to know the  immediate steps to starting your clay figure?  Can anyfae help me??

Well -- I'm pretty much a beginning sculptor myself, but I can recommend two very well done books that I've found particularly helpful.. For the basics, I like "Creating Lifelike Figures in Polymer Clay" by Katherine Dewey (ISBN 978-0-8230-1503-0, Price $21.95 USA) -- It covers a lot of useful stuff like armatures, body design, even a bit about clothing and faerie wings. For some specific projects, I recommend "Faeries, Gnomes, & Trolls" by Maureen Carlson (ISBN 978-1-58180-820-9, Price $22.99 USA) She also covers a lot of the basics as well as detailed instructions on creating 15 different projects. Hope that helps...

Hi again Leisa, I'm VERY much a beginner myself ^__^ but I found this page really good (in spite of the terrible software translation) : translate.google.com/tran... This was to make a Ball Jointed Doll (perhaps you prefer sculptures?) anyway the clay type might interest you (LaDoll clay, I use Premix and Premier). I have bought this type of clay and it's lovely. I am not finished with my first doll yet though, I have to find the right products to colour and seal it (Duncan would be my choice but it seems to cost too much to order from USA and I cannot find them here).

Dear Leisa, I'm sorry it took so long to respond to you. Let's start sculpting a doll. :) First you need to decide what size doll you want to make. Then you need to know what type of doll you want (full body sculpt, soft body, ball jointed, etc.)depending on this, you will want to make your armature. For now, let's say you are going to make a 1/12 scale human full body sculpt. You will need to build the armature from a heavy wire of 20 and 16 gauge. You will pose this armature in the postion you want your doll. From this, you will start to build muscles out of Polymer clay. This is where you need all of your anatomy knowledge. For a beginner, I would recommend Fimo Doll or Prosculpt polymer clay. You will also need a good sculpting stand...your choice. You will need to try different tools on the market to find your favorite one. PHEW! There is so much to say that I will need more specific questions in order to answer. Talk to you soon! Have a wonderful week.
