    About Me: Hello!

    My name is Renata Cavanaugh and I am self taught artist originally from Czech Republic. Currently I live in Massachusetts with my husband and two beautiful children.

    Always curious and wanting to learn, I spent much of my childhood in a corner somewhere with a pencil and pad, listening to someone's story, portraying it in my mind, and then into my drawings. I am self taught and developed my technique and style by studying, drawing and painting my own versions of my favorite artist's works and everything around me. My two favorite mediums are acrylics and pencil. The images I create are intentionaly realistic as I strive to capture the true play of color, light and shadow.

    I have done and sold many portraits of various people and love to add a Fantasy touch to real photos/models to create magic out of the ordinary.

    My paintings are influenced by my love for Ancient Egypt, mythology figures, the amazing beauty of the human body,the many expressions of the human face, and the light and dark sides of life. I have also been inspired by my dad's many talents and the incredible works of BORIS VALLEJO, Julie Bell and Luis Royo.

    Hey Renata. Sorry it's been so long that i've spoken to you.



    I didn't realize were are originally from Czech Republic. That's one beautiful land. So nice in fact, that me and the boys had to go there twice on our journey around Europe :D.



    We stayed in Prague and thats a lovely place...though i got lost it in around 5 am , and took about 4-5 hours to get back to where we stayed. I got the tram y'see, thinking it would take me to a certain place, but it took me the other side of the city where many nice trees and nature was lol.



    i had no map with me, but eventually found my way back....guess that's one way to get a tour of the city :D

    Home-schooling is fun, actually. I'm just a big kid myself, so it works out great. They love it when I'm working on a piece--they love to give advice--and my oldest daughter is planning on being an artist/astronaut when she grows up, so I count her art as part of school. lol!
