Cheryl

    Gender: Female
    Location: Alberta
    Relationship: Committed Relationship
    Orientation: Straight
    Children: Maybe Someday
    Body Type: More to love
About Me: I'm a content Capricorn. I work hard all week and am happy to come and sit at home with my common law best friend, Mark, Links the cat and Rex the autistic dog and knit. I find I don't fit in society well, but I've made peace with it and have found things in life to take delight in.

Sakura Fae RP Profile: My fair mother was a wonderful playful Fae who took delight in helping young Fae mothers and teaching young Fae of wild flowers. Never questioning my fae heart a tale told to me by my aging mother filled my heart with longing to find humans true of heart:
"A human tended a garden brimming with her favorite flowers, she'd spend time flitting among the petals for a chance sighting of the man who tended the blossoms with loving care. My mothers heart and the man's heart found a shared love of life, enough so to bring them together for a enchanting celebration of life and nature, of this celebration came a life"

My presence can be seen in the cherry trees that bloom in Japan in January beginning in Okinawa as warm weather approaches, carrying me with it. Attending several "flower viewing" festivals and shrines along the way. In 812 I was a young fledgling of 37 at Japan's first flower viewing during the Heian Period at Kyoto's Shinsen's Garden.
Music: Some days you can find me listening to Disturbed, other days Norah Jones. Love celtic music for background music during quiet days at home, but I'm embarrassed to say don't know artists or song names. I was a teen in the 80s and love all the one hit wonders of the era. The 90s alternative music like Matchbox 20 and the like are a daily radio music choice. Also like the 70s with artist like Billy Joel, Steve Miller, Stephenwolf..

My step-father even had me listening to old country, even though I grumbled at the time, the music now carries fond memories.
Movies: I have a knack of not remembering week to week what I've watched. I used to love horrors, but they got a little too graphic for me, I now am drawn to fairy tales and thrillers. You can find me quietly sitting and knitting along with war movies too, thanks to Mark.
TV: We don't have cable and are out in the county so CBC is it for me. We turn on the TV for the News, Rick Mercier and The Dragon's Den.

We do rent/buy tv series to watch after the fact and own: Firefly, Battlestar Galatica, Dr Who, Dead Like Me.
Books: Oh reading.. sadly this has taken a back burner to knitting. I am still in my heart a Stephen King fan, but my favorite of his, the Dark Tower series, is non-typical of his writing. I have picked up a few favorites in the past years, a smattering of different authors. The Forest by Edward Rutherfurd. Circle of Stones by Anna Lee Waldo. Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet. Terry Pratchett. I have a Nancy Drew collection as well, although I didn't read them as a child and haven't read each one in my collection.
    Likes: Vanilla Ice Cream
    Dislikes: beans, expectations
Hobbies: The commute to work doesn't allow much time for hobbies anymore. But on the weekends, when I'm not cleaning or sitting staring at a wall drinking tea, you can find me knitting or cooking.

Some old hobbies that I should really pick up again are photography, Hiking and astronomy.
    Vices: smoking, gaming, fantasizing
    Virtues: honest, straightforward, non-judgemental,
    Heroes: Albert Einstein

    What is tolerance?

Sunday, March 1, 2009, 01:41 PM EST [Thoughts and Ponderings]

A theme has become evident this weekend. One of tolerance and understanding just what it means.

Time and time again in life I've found myself in groups of people feeling an odd person out. I quietly slink away to my quiet content corner and put time into things I feel less draining of my energy. I get the feeling some may say this is intolerant. I say it's live and let live. I wish them no ills, I hold no grudge, I do not feel negative.

The other hand is forcing me to be in a place that saps my energy and let's others try to sway my life or what they feel is right? Is that tolerance? Not in my books.

Is tolerance seen as hording a bunch of people in a room that have nothing in common just to show tolerance? Or is tolerance living our lives and not holding grudges? I say the latter, but again, I'm not the norm.

I'm glad Luminea mentioned this place to me, it's more a quiet retreat than other online networks...specially with my leaf background. lol I'm off to my RL quiet corner where I simply can be me. Blessing to all for a wonderful day with warmth.

Whoever they are, they don't deserve to steal your energy and life force. Spin away into solitude from them as you would to avoid a nasty pack of dogs, the sure aura of your own luminescence guiding you.

Tolerance is nothing more than respect, and may the kind of respect given be the kind received. Illumine the tentacles of the disrespectful away from you and let them scar themselves, for you ARE FREE!! ;^)

I enjoyed your blog very much. Very thought provoking. For me tolerance is being accepting of others, nothing negative at all. Sounds like you have been around psychic vampires. I feel safe and at home here as well. ~ Faery Blessings ~

Yesterday i was struggling with this same issue! Your place in the corner is empowering You and your truth. Honouring yourself - as blending with those energies can sometimes make us feel pretty awfull.

I go through this same dilema over and over again and i so much wish a day where people like me/us can be the majority. Or at least to fill the room a bit more as this gives me loneliness too.

I too find this site amazing and i was radiant when i found it: i thought i could just rest my "protection shields" and just enjoy the other humans for who they are.

You are not alone Cheryl, we are thousands! :)

But spread throughout the planet.. ehehe

And as i always say: "better alone than shattered in a room filled with strange others".

What shall be expected of me?

Friday, February 20, 2009, 09:31 AM EST [Thoughts and Ponderings]

Fate and destiny are not something to try to fight against. I've typically have led my life the past few years simply accepting whatever comes my way and dealing as I can. I've always though it more grounding instead of wishing for what didn't come my way or wanting something different than I have. Our silly dog, Rex, taught me that  if something is not working to simply move to the next bush that feels better and right.

As the Fae pull and coax me into the Otherworld, I know it is somewhere I must be. I only hope I can hold my end of the deal and not let them down.. I wouldn't want  them turning mischievous on me! A Kitchen Fae with a sweet tooth already loves to sprinkle sugar everywhere in my kitchen. Perhaps it's a brownie, but I haven't  been granted a glance or  insight into who or what type of Fae he be.  I can't  imagine angering or disrespecting him, imagine the sticky situation that would cause! lol

I understand connecting with those entities that balance and ground us, give us comfort in times when we are  low, but I'm not sure how comfortable I would feel in asking for favors or help. Do they want me to ask? Are they just happy co-existing and sharing time with me? Perhaps sharing a joint effort of watching a lovingly tended flower blossom? Sprinkling sugar on  my counter whenever the lid is  left off of the sugar container? Letting me daydream and taking comfort as my thoughts add light to the world?

I'm sure when I am ready to listen and more intune they will help me know what they want. They are already urging me to quit smoking, and supporting my body as the need and desire dwindle.

Feel free to ponder or comment, both are just as appreciated.

I don't see any harm in asking the fairies for a favor, and daydreaming is a good thing more people should try it :)

This really made me ponder as i think i have a similar experience at the moment.

If we keep it simple, we should ask. Just because we are in doubt. Besides, we are all one: people, elemental kingdom, the Earth, the angels. By helping you they will be helping themselves and the whole. And by asking for help you are connecting to the whole and the whole needs you too.

Thank you for this post. Im not sure i am making sense and if these words are for you or for me.. :)

An interesting question! In my experience, the faeries are happy to help when we ask. I always think it is nice, however, to do something in return, whether that be paying extra special attention to the garden, or leaving an offering, or just doing something nice in their honour.

I have a similar brownie in my kitchen, who likes to make little splits in my flour bags and sprinkle flour everywhere! I have invested in some containers to store it to see if I can foil him hehehe!

Keep on daydreaming and listening/watching out for signs. The faeries will make known what they wish of you!

    Blessings xxx

It's no coincidence you mentioned fate here in faeryland. "The term fairy comes from the Latin fata and fatum (fate)."

    knock knock

Sunday, February 15, 2009, 01:07 PM EST [The Fae, they call]

    The Fae, quirky little imps

Sit at my window and primp primp primp

So enchanting their voices as they call to me

    Insistent they can be

........They give me no choice but to follow

I don't know where this will lead

My heart already lifted, It's something I need

I dream of the garden I will build for them in the summer

I hope they come in many a number

....They give me no choice but to follow

I really enjoyed your fairy carol.

For your poem knock knock thank you Cheryl.

Without doubt they will come because you believe.

    Staying forever they'll never leave.

...You gave me no choice but to follow.

A quick note.. because I don't know where else to put it

Monday, February 2, 2009, 12:09 PM EST [General]

What a friendly enchanting place! Thanks to those who friended me and gave me such a warm welcome. It'll take a me a few weeks to jump in and get everything looking right, but I feel at home already. It's been years since I've blogged, but I'm finding much inspiration from welcoming the Fae into my life.

Light and Fae blessings to all.
