I returned to "reality" last night after 3 days in the faerie realm--otherwise known as my first FaerieCon. It was like being at a 3 day masquerade party and I loved it!The costumes were beyond unbelievable! On friday, I was mistaken for Linda Ravenscroft, which made my day! We do look similar, and I love to listen to her melodious English accent. Diana Zimmerman was also very warm and easy to talk with. I came home with my head filled with pictures and ideas. today I plan to clean up my workroom so I can start on some of them. My one disappointment---and I heard it from other first timers, too---was there was no type of get together where we could meet people and begin to form friendships. Everyone was friendly, but exchanging a few words in hallways and exhibit halls isn't the same. Everyone is fixed on what they are looking for/doing to bother there.

Yes, just as Robert said....we seemed to miss each other in the restaurant meeting. I really did enjoy meeting you though, even briefly! Your comment on being mistaken for Linda Ravenscroft gave me quite a chuckle, too, because when I first saw you I also noticed the resemblance....I just didn't say it out loud ;) Susan Schroder |
FaerieCon
I am all packed and very excited to attend FaerieCon tommorrow! I know Rhadwyll and Susan will be there, but who else? I plan to wear my avatar on my shoulder so any EF attending might recognize me. Can't wait to meet you!!!!!!!
Fantasy arts and craft festivals
Does anyone know of some well attended fantasy based arts and crafts festivals or fantasy conventions---preferably in the Midwest? I am developing a new line of warrior fairies and some fantasy figures as well as dragons and I think they will appeal to the male contingent as well as the female. I'm trying to expand my customer base and have never known anyone who is into fantasy as opposed to fae to turn to for advise. Any suggestions?
new online store
I just put some of the main characters in my childrens book in an online store with FuzzB! They are under the general heading of fairy or fantasy. I included a bit of each story with the description. Check them out!
I'm all set for FaerieCon!
I can't wait to see you in Baltimore! Looking forward to the exhibit hall to ogle all the talent and I'm working on some new pieces to my fairy wardrobe for the balls. Judging from the pictures of the costumes of last year, there should be some awesome ones! Will there be a booth from Enchanted Folk where we can meet the people we have been talking online with?

Actually, I'm trying to arrange to have a meeting site and time set aside for a Merry Meet and to be listed in the programming. If not possible, then I'll do the "wander with sign" schtick... RdeHwyll |

That's why we try to organize the Merry Meets to coincide -- we had two small but lively meal-get-togethers during FaerieCon, where we had good conversations and learned a bit about each other. My only regret is that the hotel restaurant where we held them didn't bother to put all the parties together -- some of us met on the "wrong" side of the restaurant...(Sigh!)
