Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes and support! I thought I had better post an update on how things are going with my treatment. So far everything has been really positive and going very well. I had surgery back on the 11th where they just cut the lump out. They did a check of the lymph nodes then as well to see if the cancer had spread at all, but they were clear, which is a really big YAY! It’s all healing really well too, I feel almost back to normal allready, they did such an awesome job (I barely even look different, except for what will be a super cool scar!).
A week after they came back with the full
pathology results and confirmed the clear lymph nodes, and a clear
margin on the removed tissue, which was the best news. Unfortunately
the cancer type is a more aggressive form, so just to be sure they
clear out any tiny bit that might still be hiding somewhere they are
going to start me on chemotherapy in a few weeks time, and then
radiotherapy after that. But it is expected that I will be 100% cancer
free after all that. Of course they can never really know, and it’s
something that I’ll have to keep an eye on for the rest of my life, but
fingers crossed hey!
The chemo, as most people know, has a lot of
side affects and will probably make me feel pretty goopy on and off for
the next 4 months or so. Mostly fatigue and aches and such, and of
course the famous hair loss! I’ve taken a stand against the hair loss,
and am going to have fun over the next few weeks before treatment
starts, with a series of ever-shortening crazy funky hair cuts. In
fact, I’ve already been in and am now a shoulder length pale blond!
Next I’m thinking a bright red pixie cut ^_^
On the art and business
side of things, I’ve been so incredibly lazy, and unmotivated. I’m
slowly working on and off on a commission for a beer label for Wychwood
brewery, but otherwise haven’t done any new work. I’ve got some great
ideas I want to start on soon though. I’ve got someone working the
order filling part of my business for me which is nice (with my help on
and off when needed, still training!). Also I’ve got a HUGE shipment of
luscious journals on their way in by sea mail (about 2 months away!).
They are so beautiful, just wait till you see them.
Anyway, thanks
again everyone for your support! It feels as though I wouldn’t be
getting such good results from my treatment without it.
