"I close my eyes, then I drift away
Into the magic night. I softly say
A silent prayerlike dreamers do.
Then I fall asleep to dream my dreams of you."

Artemisia

This graceful plant has been a favorite of mine for sometime now. I carry it in my medicine bag, hang it in my apothecary, and grow it in my yard.
Being a member of the Artemisia family, mugwort is in powerful company. Ruled by the goddess Artemis, this family has an illustrious past. Artemis was a woodland nymph who ran wild and free with the creatures of the woods, and was a protector of wild things, not the huntress she was later made out to be. Her plants were the aromatic plants that grew freely on hillsides. She used these for healing animals, aiding women in childbirth, and caring for injured warriors. When carrying mugwort you cannot be harmed by poison, wild beasts, or sunstroke, according to ancient tradition. In addition, mugwort is known to aid in astral projection and will help in the stimulation and remembrance of dreams. Mugwort is used to make ‘dream pillows' and seems to help one journey into the moon-time world. To make a simple dream pillow use equal amounts of dried mugwort, lavender, roses, and chamomile. The other fragrant herbs are used to offset some of the intensity and ‘edge' of the mugwort. My personal relationship to this plant is a source of joy and allows me connection to Mystery... Sweet Dreams!

Faery-Lights

""Fairy folk slumber in a small clearing beside the wooded path. Above, fireflies spread their dancing candlelight over ancient flagstones marking the path. Rainbow colored fairy wings shimmer with silvery light as on each sleeping fairy face the firefly's glow alights. Behold Rosemary and Lavender, sleeping arm in arm, and gentle Daisy's head, bent low, rests on a twisted bit of Hawthorn's root. With a nod brave Hawthorn beckons you come rest in his shade. ""
