Beside a roaring campfire sat a small band of solderseach telling of battles they've won.In turn bettering the last in their heroic talesof death defying deeds they had done.Standing their ground soaked with their foes bloodbecame too common a theme. So desperate they were for all the rest to seetheir living nightmarish dream. One spoke of great hoards too many to numberagainst an army so few.Victorious were the small band of defendersfor there cause was noble and true. Then another recalled a bold castle siegethought risky and foolish to try.In the achieved win he rejoiced in the wayhe made so many unworthy to die. Then bellowed a swordsman of a recent sword fightthe mission of a murderous quest. In mortal combat he solemnly spokeof his queries souls endless sleeps rest.In the company of men sat a virgin to deathpure still beat his innocent heart.Unsure of his chance in this end gameand to what end would be his part. The young warrior then spoke and as he didhe looked deep into there weary eyes."Have any heard of a devilish creaturethat hides well in a clever disguise?""It's been said to feed hearty on the flesh from withindrawn to the feast of the soul.""What then remains is the mere shell of a manafter it has devoured him whole.""I seek to be rid of this horrid beastfor so long I have searched far and wide.""None seen such a thing still it I will findmy glory shall not be denied."From across the fire pit rose a battle worn soldierspeaking with a voice of thunder."So lad you wish to take on such a thingthat has the power to so completely plunder?""Look not to foreign shores nor to high landsfor within us all it slumbers quiet and still.""In dark reason it's woken to gorge on the spirittill it's hunger has had it's fill.""For love or for God or unbridled revengea royals wrath or wealth taken or lost.""A death's merchant's fortune is measured in souls squanderedin lies the greater cost."Erupted the lad, "But it's a monster I seek!"The interrupted warriors anger now grew."Take heed boy!" He said, "The monster is usand the monster shall also be you."Away from the warm fire and into the darkwalked the only soul left to save. For the tormented souls of the men of war
shall know rest in the bed of there grave.
