In a town near a mountain that spewed fire and gas.Worked a lonely young man who made pictures with glass.Where the faithful would pray his works were adored. His art was sought by great kings and noble landlords. He mixed glass pigments by hand so none were the same. And he forged chosen ore for the lead skeletal frame. Then once for him self he would make a window filled scene. There in its center shall grace the queen of his dreams. From the depths of his soul he summoned the creators own will.To make perfect each piece by some holy blessed skill.Enduring the lingering poisons adrift in the lead tainted air.Even the shards lacerations were for the flesh to now bear. His blood mixed with the crimson of her long flowing dress. And his tears like sweat stroked the portrait in a gentle caress. The scattered crystals that once lay on the mountains calm side. Were fitting adornments for his window's glass bride.Mounted into a wood frame from a lightning struck tree.First morning light revealed the impression's exquisite beauty. In that same instant came a most wonderous suprise. For there stood his vision alive before his stunned eyes.Slowly he reached to match feel with this magical sight.Only to pass through her body as a ghost made from pure light."What manor of spell hast thou conjured such form?"He said drawing the hearth's poker that was battered and worn."Fear not," she then spoke, "For I am all that you see.""I was made to be yours and part of you lives within me.""The light awakens my spirit but my heart beats for you.""This could not have been possible had your love been untrue.""In the abyss of deep sleep is our time when we touch.""But the offers of this awake world grants us so much."She spoke in nature's sweet voice of earth and bright sky.The unnoticed hours they spent too quickly passed by.She grew weaker and dim by the eclipse of a cloud. And vanished from sight in the nights darkened shroud.Sleep will not come for an excited young soul. For now he had found that some one to make his life whole. From his sleeps chamber's wide open window he stood gazing out.Upon the grassy courtyard his love danced round about.Together they were beneath the stars and the moon. There earlier time concluded they both knew too soon.'Twas the hearth's flickering flame that drew her outside. In the presence of light there want shall not be denied.Days slipped to weeks then months and then years. The artist never was seen his death every one feared. In a studio of stained glass holds a masterpiece he once made.Of two lovers embraced is so proudly displayed.

Thanks to our host Be I have my very own corner in her on line magazine. For a change she posted a couple of short stories I wrote instead of a poem. To be honest I have difficulty writing anything that doesn't rhyme. The few things I have done usualy started as a poem then I'd change it if someone asked me to. As an example here is a poetic story written from two perspectives then later changed to the story that appears in my column at Faezine titled A Friend In Need. I am greatful to Be for her support and giving me the opportunity to tell my twisted tales.
The Mermaid's Story
Between hilly wet surface and sandy shell floor.Far out where it's deep and away from the shore. In tag fishies play round and round so childishly.Wave after wave says shhhh to the big open sea.In a gown of sea weed adorned with sea shells. That flowed to her tail fin of soft green pastels.Sang a singing mermaid in fishy song speech.Near Candy Cane Island by it's sugary sweet beach. Here is where snap crabs and starfish call home.Dart about minnows that never leave her alone. She smells the sea air in a warm windy spray. And feels the sunshine in the late summer day. Then between her and the sun a small fairy flew past. But stopped when she dropped her hand-mirrored glass. The mermaid yelled out, "Don't worry I will help you."As she dived into the wave's turquoise dark hew.Slower than slow the mermaid carefully swam. For it laid at the bottom amongst a bed of sea clams. With mirror in hand away her fin flapped. To only be caught in a clams shelly snap.Such a terrible shock but then came a suprise. The mermaid could not believe her own eyes. For there deep with her was the little fairy.Come to her rescue and help her get free. From a bag the fairy blew dust at the clamshell. With the clam's sneeze the two bid it farewell.Soon they were safe along the shoreline. They checked to make sure each other was fine. From then on alone the two never again played. At a sweet sea island you'll find the fairy and mermaid. The Fairies Story
Priss the fairy corkscrewed and somersaulteddarting through the bubble gum trees. She rolled and polled in the candy grasslanding on her elbows and knees. At a lickerish fountain she stopped for a drinkwhile cotton candy bushes rustled in the winds gust.In her shoulder strap bag she searched for her mirroralong side her pouch of fairy dust."Oh, how pretty am I," she would say out loudthe glass held closer for a much better stare.Moving the mirror around in a desperate searchfor an arrant strand on her near perfect hair.Looking up she could see the sun going downand she knew she could not hesitate.Thinking her mother would worry and not let her returnshould her arrival for supper be late.Leaving Candy Cane Island she flew over the slaphappy wavesof the fishy filled deep blue sea.Not long was her journey but resist she could notfrom gazing again at her favorite fairy. As she pulled out the small mirror it slipped out her handsdown into the water it fell.It came to rest on the bottom and not in a deep part.this the upset fairy could sorrowfully tell. Then along came a mermaid who saw what had happened And said, "Don't worry I will help you."Diving into a wave the surface splashed by her tail finAs she submerged into the ocean of blue.Centered in a clam field laid the reflecting glassstill the mermaid believed she could not fail. She quietly reached for the mirror but before she swam offa giant clam snapped shut on the maidens tail. From up high the fairy could see the poor trapped mermaidthinking of herself no more she dived in.Fairies avoid the water they can't fly with wet wingsand so none ever learned to swim.Deep down she went deepr than any fairy had beentill she was inches from the clams shelly lip. From her pouch she blew the magic dust at the clamCausing it to sneeze and loose it's tight grip.Holding the fairies hand the mermaid swam her to shoreand made certain she was safe and sound. The fairy knew she was a mess but no longer caredher concern was for the friend she had found.Neither paused nor asked they did what they couldwhen they had seen the other in need. They learned that just helping a person could make them a friendjust as the mermaid and fairy are indeed.Never again did the fairy act vain or see only her selffor with it she did not get very far.True beauty lies in one's character and in there deedsregardless of who or what you are.Tags:

What if when I take to sleep I'm truly wide-awake?Is the conscious life the one we live or a dull and bitter fake?Could it be that what I am is more a dream than real?I'm at rest in a far off place wondering all these things I feel. What if it's strange I can not fly or morph with things I see?Does this life truly offer the chance of what we wish to be?What dreams can do may seem funny when we give them half a chance.I've imagined hearing smells and tasting colors while snails perform a dance.Where storm clouds gathered I waved my arms and drove them far away.In wheat fields I walked with my dad for just another day.I knew my love and held her hand before she was my wife.In twice a time we lived as one in dreams and in this life. And when nightmares take sleeps place where helplessly I scream. My failures haunt my soul just as any frightful dream. Was there or will there be a choice on how we'll live?It could depend on what you'll have and what you'll have to give.Perhaps it's all a second chance or another kind of test.Or a taste of what's to come as we are laid to rest.

It's not enough for life to live I question what to take or give. What awaits far down the road my quest to knows a heavy load. Then I heard of one who sees the veiled future possibilities. To the oricle I made my way desperate for what she had to say.Not knowing if I would return I sold all that my labor earned.Mere trinkets when the truth is known I leave this place I once called home.Through forest fields and ocean deep where beast abound to feast and sleep.Past black mountains topped with snow into a land no soul could know.Where kingdoms end from man's rule tread not the wise or the fool. Each step counts the passing time so easy to loose so hard to find.Beside a pond's tranquility sat the one I came to see. Before her stood a mere shadow my own reflection I would not know.Though broken by the weight of age I spoke proud and bold to the sage."I'm a child of winter's last cold breath born as life returned from death. So far from cradle and mother's hand in to a world I can't withstand. But still I wander like a child to venture in this place so wild.Your guiding wisdom I have been told in uncovering what the future holds. To you I offer all I own a jewel crafted from a precious stone.Maiden, say what the gods won't tell then this prized gift shall suit you well."Across the wave less pond she stared his words of treasure she did not care. The sky posed in the mirrored pool the still air felt crisp and cool. She spoke as the moment's spell was cast, "What was your future now's your past. You barter on the future's cost no price could pay for what you've lost.Heed well to what I have to say your final breath shall pass today. What have you at journey's end no one to love nor a close friend.Did ever you give a helping hand in others sorrows seek to understand?Instead of living you passed life by no chances taken for fear to try.Miserably you have failed life's test by embarking on this foolish quest.Squandered and empty this gift so rare." She turned away in bitter dispair. How real the feel when bathed in truth it's spirit abandoned with my youth.Alone stood the prophet as before to wait for the lost there wish for more.Above shine stars in a darkened sky along with a gem she tossed as high.
