"The rule of no realm is mine, neither the world nor any other, great or small. But all worthy things that are in peril as the world now stands, those are my care. And for my part, I shall not wholly fail my task, though the world as we know it should perish, if anything passes through this night that can still grow fair or bear fruit and flower again in days to come. For I also am a steward. Did you not know?"

I recently decided to do a blog article about my costumes,
since I haven't done that, yet.
I
love making costumes, for various reasons, like: I'm going to a renaissance
festival, and I need something awesome to wear, or, I'm going to a festival, or
I just get an idea, and have to make it :o) I do that, sometimes! I like to mix
and match pieces, too. I make movies with some friends, so I make costumes for
those, as well. I have a pair of boots, originally made for one of my movie
costumes, but they work fantastic for switching around and using with some of
my other costumes.
One of my first renaissance type outfits. I wanted to be a woodsman archer, so
I decided to try my best to copy Kiera Knightley's costume in the Princess of
Thieves. It turned out pretty good, for my costume making skill at the time :o)
So,
my first ever renaissance faire, I was soo... excited! I wanted to make
a new costume, not just use something I already had. I didn't have very long,
though. By the time I got my fabric, I only had one day to sew it up in! This
is what I came up with:
Then,
we go to a fall festival every year. We have some cousins who love to host it,
and everyone dresses up. So, I came up with this creation. I had a long time to
work on this one, thankfully. All the detail work took so long! But it
was worth it, I love it! It's my Elven costume, with the pointy ears and
everything.
The
detail on the vest bodice is the heraldry symbol of the house of Gil-galad. I
worked it in gold cording, carefully wrapped, twisted and sewn down. This is
still my very favorite of all my costumes, I love it.
This is what I used for this years Renaissance Faires, as well. I also use it
when I set up my booth at markets, etc... as part of my theme.
I
made one to sell, not too long ago. A lady bought it for her niece, in
preparation for a Renaissance faire they where planning to attend. It turned
out very pretty, I thought.
I
make lost of costumes, these are just my favorite examples. I make and sell
some costumes, when I have time, or a request. I have a custom slot open right
now, in my etsy shop, for a custom personalized costume. I’m looking forward to
making it, when someone is interested.
I
hope you’ve enjoyed looking at my costumes! I felt like sharing :o)
Today is a Japanese Holiday, called Tanabata (Star Festival). It's a lovely one to celebrate. You create several strips of paper,
with wishes, prayers, goals, etc.. on them, hang them on a piece of
bamboo (of course, a stick would work here!), and hang it in your own
personal 'Sacred Tree'. These can be as elaborate or as simple as you
like. The goal is just to make your wish!
"A group of Etsyans who do stuff based on Fantasy got together and
formed our own group. We are invading faespace in the nicest way and
hope that you all visit our Etsy shops and see what we do."
We're just having fun :o)
Faespace is so neat. I look forward to meeting people on here. And I'm so glad that some of you guys from FAETEAM have made it on here, too!
