I've just been out round the lanes taking reference photos of mushroom fairy-rings...and I saw a Roe Deer and two Red Squirrels, one of the squirrels sat and watched while I fumbled with my camera and I managed to get one image before it hopped over the wall into the wood!

I got home yesterday to find a Jack Rabbit frozen on my lawn, up on his hind haunches watching me. So I just walked slowly and talked to him the whole way in, with the result being that I got to watch him up close from my window too once inside as he munched and frolicked.
TommyI've heard our gray squirrels were somehow let loose in England, now threatening the reds there. That's too bad, because the grays really are into mischief and fun. I guess they're just out-competing them! Here they chase each other, but leave the smaller ground squirrels alone when they're eating the seed I put out for them.
