My artistic interest right now is quilting. Tried it a couple of times when I was a resident in NYS and OH, but never could quite "get it". Then I moved to Kentucky, the capital of quilting and with all the shops in Lexington and the outskirts, I got hooked.
I finally pulled out the Michael Miller Fairy Frost fabric (profile pic) I had found in OH and made a throw-sized quil with that. Then another small table-topper for my magical friend Mary Jo (see picture above). The pattern is Ohio Star as Mary Jo is from Ohio and it works well to feature focal fabric.
Now I have another art quilt started that is based on my first collie, Dulcie. I have this great photo of her smelling a red tulip. So I took a landscape quilt class here in Lexington and used some flower fairy fabric to create "Dulcie in the Fairy Garden". Have to quilt it and then will post that one.
There is a lot of great fairy fabric if you search using fabric search engines, but you must be vigilant as it disappears quickly.
Is anyone else making fairy quilts? I would love to see what everyone is doing. I am thinking of another art quilt with embroidered spiderwebs and tiny beads - all glittery and make it tiny...
