The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have

To say I am blessed is most likely the understatement of the world - I am sitting right now in a less than perfect back yard, it will never be shown in Better Homes and Gardens, my neighbors hardly line up at my door to come and see my beautiful flowers but oddly enough my eyes barely focus on the weeds or the toys that are bleached from the sun. Today I am watching 2 of my grandchildren enjoy the longer days of summer - when they can swim late into the night without having to turn on the pool light. Photobucket

I am frozen in time, I want to take in the moment and be able to replay it like a movie at a later date. I want to hear their laughter, coughs and crys. I want to remember Jayden looking rather silly in her pink goggles - which she is sure protects her from a variety of doom. PhotobucketI want to listen just a bit longer to Logan while he trys to trick her into something, anything just to say he did it. I want them to stay 7 and 10 just a while longer - just a bit more of spontanious kisses, I love you and please can I stay a bit longer. I want them to love me like this every minute of every day from now till time runs out. I want them to remember there was this time when they are teenagers and I want to live so long that they have to be gentle with me and call me sweety. I want them to always introduce me to their friends as their "real" grandma and I want us both to remember to always cry long enough to start laughing ! PhotobucketPS Also it is important to know that when you start laughing under water you blow lots of bubbles!!

Patti, Welcome to EF. I enjoyed all your writing...you have such a terrific outlook on life. Your words convey such a sense of joy.

A Harry Potter room under the stairs...oh, how fun!
("Last of the Mohicans" is a long time favorite movie of mine as well)

Awesome! Real wisdom is appreciating the obvious that others don't take the time to notice.

Thanks for sharing your lovely photos!
In my opinion your back yard sounds a much nicer than the back yards you see in the womens magazines.

Your grandchildren are enchaning! Please tell Jayden that she looks like a real mermaid:)
