Music: One of my other "hats" is musician...I play bouzouki and mandolin in a local Celtic band, Glenfinnan (website is www.kansasscot.com ). We dont really have dreams of becoming famous or anything, just play to have a good time and often my old house is full to the rafters with jam sessioners and laughter...its a good life!

Here are some of my favorite professional musicians:
Rosabel Believe, Rich Mullins, Andy McKee(he really DID play at our wedding!!), Old Blind Dogs, Runrig, Butch Robins, Hal Ketchum, Wolfestone, The Proclaimers,Dougie MacLean, Robert Mirabal, The Newsboys, The Waterboys, The Tannahill Weavers,Silly Wizard, Eric Faulkner, Johnny Clegg, Juluka, Roger Landes, **** Gaughan, Marty Stuart, Jerry Douglas, Robin Mark, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Oyster Band, Steve Earle,Blackmore's Night Heart, Nickel Creek, Bela Fleck, Sam Bush
Movies: LOTR, Chocolat, Labyrinth, Willow, Ladyhawke, Stardust(especially the bits that were filmed in the fairy glen on the Isle of Skye:),Peter Pan, Hook, Finding Neverland (see a trend here?), The 1st & 2nd Pirates of the Carribean(3rd was cool in bits, but they really ruined that wonderful character by just making her get all big and turn into crabs..what was UP with that??), Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events(Billy Connolly was magic as Uncle Monty) Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins, The Man Who Sued God, Braveheart, Mystery Men, Local Hero, American Dreamer, Saving Grace (The old one with Tom Conti as the Pope who runs away, not the new comedy) Star Wars 4 5 6 (Return of the Jedi was my fave)...Episode one was good even if it was just that I got to watch Liam Neeson with long hair for two hourse...and Darth Maul ROCKED!!
TV: First the caveat that I try not to watch TV when at all possible, and if I never owned one again I would be okay with that, BUT when I do watch I get hooked and my faves generally fall into one of two categories, Sci-fi or British Comedy (House actually counts here because Hugh Laurie is one of the KINGS of Britcoms...:-):

Dr. Who, Torchwood, The Dresden Files (I cant help it, gotta love a grown up wizard named Harry dont we?), Most of the Treks, but never got into the Enterprise one-DS 9 is my absolute favorite, House, FAWLTY TOWERS (the absolute funniest 12 episodes ever in the history of Television!), Only Fools and Horses, Goodnight Sweetheart, Black Adder, Black Books, Coupling (BBC, NOT the US version, why on earth did they even try that??) ANYTHING THAT EDDIE IZZARD IS EVER IN!!!! especially Glorious, Dressed To Kill, Circle-in French, and The Riches. Same goes for my beloved Billy Connolly...he is so funny it hurts:-).
    Vices: umm...I'm working on those.
Virtues: sparkles, love and joy bubbles!!

I have had so much fun creating my Elven forest jewelry range!  When I first discovered Czech glass leaf beads I knew I had stumbeled upon something that would keep me enchanted for a long time.  The ear cuff that I am currently using as my profile photo was my first ever attempt at "crystal flower arranging" as I have come to call it.  The lovely gold topaz leaves  reminded me of Tolkein's description of Galadriel's home in Lothlorien and from there a collection was born!! After the cuff was born, I decided to make a bracelet and necklace, and eventually added the tiara and the upper arm cuff (which doubles as an exotic ankle bracelet:-).

I was recently commissioned to create this set for a fantasy artist in Denmark who plans to use these in a portrait of Titania- quite fitting I thought, as these colours always remind me of the height of summer.  I am very excited about this project and will be sharing more once her piece is finished!!

As always, this collection and more is available in my etsy shop:

Thank You & A Photos Note

Monday, January 28, 2008, 12:20 AM CST [General]

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who stopped by my page to look at my jewelry photos and who welcomed me so warmly to this enchanted realm!  What a lovely community.  I hope I was able to respond to everyone who commented...I am rather new to social networking sites and am still learning how to do all the technical stuff- wire and gemstones are much simpler to work with!

Because I have had several inquiries I thought I should make a note about my photo gallery &  post some easy links to my online shops...almost all of the pieces shown in the gallery here are offered for sale in my Etsy or Ebay shops.  The pendants of course are pretty much one of a kind items, but I am always happy to do a custom wrap...I have quite a collection of stones and crystals, so chances are I have what you are looking for- feel free to email anytime with a request:-)

    My main website is

    www.thyme2dream.com

and from there you can get everywhere I have stuff for sale.  I am on UK ebay, US ebay and my absolute FAVORITE home is Etsy:

    www.thyme2dream.etsy.com

Posted above are some of my newest creations on Ive listed Etsy (cos I cant figure out how to get them in the MIDDLE of this blog post, lol)

I've been reading about spring peeking through the ground in the UK..here on the Kansas prairie it has been lovely and warm for two days, but the flowers know better than to start popping up yet...we are likely to have a blizzard by Friday;-).

Happily, my workspace is a treehouse sort of a sunroom, with a nice toasty warm heater at my feet I can work along fairly contentedly until spring finally gets here--usually around St Patricks Day, but you never know out here...

    Fanciful Things for Magical Spaces

Friday, January 18, 2008, 03:38 PM CST [General]

Here's my 1st blog to complete the profile wizard (it just wont do to have incomplete wizards roaming about:-)...so, a wee introduction:

I have spent the last few years creating unusual jewelry for discerning faeries and elven folk and have recently discovered that mortals like it too:-) I just started Thyme2dream as a full time business, and hope to gear up to attend Renfaires and Faerie Festivals within the next year or so...for now I am getting established online and having a wonderful time connecting with other creative fae in the process!

Im a daughter of the south wind (fancy name for 'Native Kansan';-)...but these days I am blessed to be able split time between here and Edinburgh, Scotland where my husband was born and raised. Celtic stuff seems to be in my blood, and most of my pieces have a bit of Celt in them somewhere.

I love rocks~ From the naturally heart shaped piece of Kansas River rock my boys found for me one day on a home school outing, to the lovely cool feeling of blue chalcedony or the magical shimmer of rainbow moonstone~ all stones become my friends when I work with them.  Wrapping and spiraling with wire and gemstones seems to be a natural combination for me...Most of my pieces are not planned, they just sort of happen as I play with the elements of the design.  I am also fascinated by the ‘personalities' that different cultures and traditions have given gemstones through the ages, and often combine them with specific meanings in mind as a blessing to the person who will eventually wear them. Above all, I try to put a lot of love and joy into everything I create!

Feel free to contact me anytime..I love feedback on my work and enjoy working on custom pieces if you have a costume that needs that wee bit of something added to the ensemble!

Don't worry about being 'trad' at the 'Faires. Maybe we'll work another trade, and you can get another cloak - this one made to fit your "long frame", and maybe something not so 'trad'!! After all, faeries go to 'Faires, too!
