Music: One of my other "hats" is musician...I play bouzouki and mandolin in a Celtic band. We dont really have dreams of becoming famous or anything, just play to have a good time and often my old house is full to the rafters with jam sessioners and laughter...its a good life!
Here are some of my favorite professional musicians:
Old Blind Dogs Runrig Oysterband Butch Robins The Waterboys Juluka Roger Landes Steve Earle Blackmore's Night Rich Mullins Andy McKee(he really DID play at our wedding:-)

Movies: LOTR Chocolat Labyrinth Willow
Ladyhawke Stardust(especially the bits that were filmed in the fairy glen on the Isle of Skye: Peter Pan Hook Finding Neverland Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events(Billy Connolly was magic as Uncle Monty) Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Mary Poppins The Man Who Sued God Braveheart Mystery Men Local Hero

TV: First the caveat that I try not to watch TV when at all possible, and if I never owned one again I would be okay with that. When I DO watch tho, I get hooked and my faves generally fall into one of two categories, Sci-fi or British Comedy (House actually counts here because Hugh Laurie is one of the KINGS of Britcoms...:-):
Dr. Who Torchwood The Dresden Files (I cant help it, gotta love a grown up wizard named Harry dont we?) House FAWLTY TOWERS (the absolute funniest 12 episodes ever in the history of Television!) Only Fools and Horses Black Adder Black Books Coupling (BBC, NOT the US version, why on earth did they even try that??)
ANYTHING THAT EDDIE IZZARD IS EVER IN!!!! especially Glorious, Dressed To Kill, Circle-in French, and The Riches. Same goes for my beloved Billy Connolly...he is so funny it hurts:-).

I love Alphonse Mucha~ his artistic love affair with Sarah Bernhardt, the jewelry he adorned his portrait models with, as well as the designs he actually had made into jewelry pieces in collaboration with French jeweler Georges Fouquet- I am fascinated by his magical worlds of movement and swirls!!
When I was asked to make an Elven wedding headdress loosely based on the crown Arwen wore in the last scene of The Return of the King, I drew upon Mucha's wonderful flowing lines and the profusion of flowers everywhere in his work to bring a uniqueness to the piece.
This piece is truly a collaboration- I came up with an idea based on a request from a customer...Ian designed the gorgeous celtic weave base, my niece Alicia designed the bead strands (and is the model in these photos;), and I added my crystal flower arrangements and put it all together. My sister did the photos- she is so good she made even these rushed ones look great!
Oh I am SO chuffed...my new friend Gini, aka www.Jess8Cass2.etsy.com sent photos of her adorable girls in their Halloween costumes- complete with Jewelry by yours truly. I knew these costumes were going to be delightful just from her description and I was not disappointed. Cassandra & Jessica look absolutely adorable..and look like they were born fae as well (the ears look so REAL)!
Their mum is a talented Chain Maille designer who I met at the Etsy Chainmaillers & Wire Artisans virtual trunk show a while back....this is my favorite piece from her shop (and since my family reads my blog, YES, it is on my Christmas wishlist;) Click the photo to be taken to the Etsy listing for this piece, or CLICK HERE for her Etsy storefront.

Sometimes its hard to feel very fairylike in my hometown surroundings. Im from down to earth farm country where people usually only take things at face value and forget to look beyond into the magic. But in the autumn that all seems to change.... October
is a beautiful time of year in Kansas. The awful heat of summer has
passed, we have deep blue skies, brilliant fiery leaves and crisp cool
weather.
In Autumn in the Flinthills, even our prairie grass
changes colours, and we see vast expanses of deep golden-copper hue
waving in the south wind. Its easy to imagine faeries flitting about in the fields preparing for our harsh prairie winter. I created these pieces with this magical
autumn landscape in mind.
The tiara, necklace and earrings are available currently in my DaWanda Shop and now on Thyme2dream Etsy as well. Im thinking I will do
an ear cuff and maybe a hair clip as well...if you have another
request, feel free to contact me anytime:)
