    Elven Forest Autumn Tapestry

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 11:35 AM CST [General]

I love the first signs of Autumn in the forest...leaves are just beginning to turn, and the deep greens mingle with the sudden red, orange and copper that appears in ever increasing measure as we say goodbye to the year.

Czech glass leaves, swarovski pearls & crystals combine to make this autumn fantasy necklace. The pendant also features a garnet heart and a wee piece of amber for a bit of added magic;)

This necklace is the first in my Elven Forest Autumn collection,to include earrings, ear cuff, bracelet, tiara, hair combs and more. If you would like any of these items before they are listed, just drop me a line!

As always, my newest pieces are available in my Etsy Shop, Thyme2dream

    Arthur Rackham's Faery World

Saturday, August 23, 2008, 08:22 PM CST [General]

I used to have a big poster of this painting on my wall when I was 16 and all I knew about it then was the caption said "Queen Mab". Many years later when I found it on the web it was entitled "Feeling Very Undancey Indeed," and when I researched it a bit more I discovered it was actually from Arthur Rackham's illustrations for J M Barrie's Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. :

Ah, so that explains why I loved the painting so much! I love J. M. Barrie~the world has lost way too much of its innocence these days. I work very diligently to hang on to as much of mine as I can~reading Peter Pan every few years is one of my favorite ways to accomplish this.

According to our beloved Mr Barrie, dancey is how the faeries say they are happy...so undancey is faerie-folk language for a wee bit dispirited or some such thing. It is Queen Mab, and the reason she is feeling undancey is too long to go into here, but Dover Publications is issuing a new edition of the book with Arthur Rackham's original illustrations next month, so you can go and read the story for yourself if you are curious;)

One of the things I love most about Arthur Rackham's illustrations of Queen Mab is the beautiful tones of ivory and burgandy that he used...it seemed only natural when I was asked to create a wedding set in these colours that they should be named after the undancey faery Queen.

When I finished the tiara, I went to find the Undancey picture again and was delighted to see how much it the tiara looked like it belonged to her:)! I also made a hair clip, earrings, two necklaces and am currently working on a bracelet as well. They are my new personal favorites. These are for sale in my Etsy Shop, look for "Queen Mab's Wedding"

    Dreams of Midsummer

Thursday, April 3, 2008, 07:44 AM CST [General]

I have had so much fun creating my Elven forest jewelry range!  When I first discovered Czech glass leaf beads I knew I had stumbeled upon something that would keep me enchanted for a long time.  The ear cuff that I am currently using as my profile photo was my first ever attempt at "crystal flower arranging" as I have come to call it.  The lovely gold topaz leaves  reminded me of Tolkein's description of Galadriel's home in Lothlorien and from there a collection was born!! After the cuff was born, I decided to make a bracelet and necklace, and eventually added the tiara and the upper arm cuff (which doubles as an exotic ankle bracelet:-).

I was recently commissioned to create this set for a fantasy artist in Denmark who plans to use these in a portrait of Titania- quite fitting I thought, as these colours always remind me of the height of summer.  I am very excited about this project and will be sharing more once her piece is finished!!

As always, this collection and more is available in my etsy shop:

Thank You & A Photos Note

Monday, January 28, 2008, 12:20 AM CST [General]

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who stopped by my page to look at my jewelry photos and who welcomed me so warmly to this enchanted realm!  What a lovely community.  I hope I was able to respond to everyone who commented...I am rather new to social networking sites and am still learning how to do all the technical stuff- wire and gemstones are much simpler to work with!

Because I have had several inquiries I thought I should make a note about my photo gallery &  post some easy links to my online shops...almost all of the pieces shown in the gallery here are offered for sale in my Etsy or Ebay shops.  The pendants of course are pretty much one of a kind items, but I am always happy to do a custom wrap...I have quite a collection of stones and crystals, so chances are I have what you are looking for- feel free to email anytime with a request:-)

    My main website is

    www.thyme2dream.com

and from there you can get everywhere I have stuff for sale.  I am on UK ebay, US ebay and my absolute FAVORITE home is Etsy:

    www.thyme2dream.etsy.com

Posted above are some of my newest creations on Ive listed Etsy (cos I cant figure out how to get them in the MIDDLE of this blog post, lol)

I've been reading about spring peeking through the ground in the UK..here on the Kansas prairie it has been lovely and warm for two days, but the flowers know better than to start popping up yet...we are likely to have a blizzard by Friday;-).

Happily, my workspace is a treehouse sort of a sunroom, with a nice toasty warm heater at my feet I can work along fairly contentedly until spring finally gets here--usually around St Patricks Day, but you never know out here...
