I have noticed that several people are concerned by members who join and may not contribute regularly or restrict access to their details, making it difficult to befriend them.
I confess! I am the worlds worse at blogging and contributing - apologies but...
I am sure these people have their reasons. If a new member is under 18 you will not be able to see their details - it's a security thing and they have to make the first move.
Secondly, and this is the crux of my blog, you would be surprised at the number of people who have joined EF and have never joined a social network before. For some it takes great courage to open up to strangers. Some don't fully understand how to set things up, some may not have time to do it all in one day and some may think they have set things up one way and mistakenly ticked the wrong boxes. Whatever the reason, as far as I am concerned, they can take as long as they like getting a feel for the place before exposing themselves, so to speak.
We monitor the site closely looking for those who would wish harm or spam and those people are weeded out as soon as possible. Thanks to all of you aswell for your own vigilance with this.
Many people arrive here after terrible experiences elsewhere. Some have been pursued across other networks and bullied by people in the faery art world who prefess to be sweetness and light but underneath harbour some dark resentment towards their perceived success. Whatever the reason they arrive at EF, all have one thing in common, that they are looking for a home - a place to belong and if EF is for them they will stay. If not, so be it.
Gentle souls need to understand and trust this is a safe place, a haven from the full frontal assault that life can sometimes be and not an 'in your face' network.
All are welcome, those who stay tend to find great friends.
This might be an excellent little "link to" from the home page, perhaps just at the top of the blog column, where people might consider it and be aware of where others might be coming from.
Having no other blog or history, this is all new to me. I wondered too why others were like this, but with your experience can understand now.
Thanks Drew! That does put things into perspective. I guess we all wish to welcome new members and show what a wonderful caring community we truly are.
Sending you pink bubbles of love

[General]
Thank you to all those EF members who have taken time to support George and his music on
http://orangeunsignedact.co.uk/acts/have_you_met_george and voted for him on the site.
The final day for voting in the competition is September 14 and we have been voting everyday!
The comments that have been left for him there have been truly inspiring for George.
We know he really appreciates them, as do we.
He is already composing and writing more great songs as a direct result of this welcome encouragement...
Once this part of the competition has closed, we though you might like to know that you can still follow this young man's promising career and hear his new work:
through his Myspace http://www.myspace.com/georgemontague
on his Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/George-Montague/8405793613
and on Enchanted Folk http://members.enchantedfolk.com/whitedragonrider
We are still voting for George. When will he know if he is successful? Give Be a big fairy hug from us all, we miss her and looking forward to speaking to her soon.
Just visited his site, George has a great voice and energy, and why wouldn't he, look at his parents, gets my vote, just waiting for the link in my e mail, but wish him the best of luck.. Much love Lib x x
We haven't asked our Enchanted Folk Community to help promote something personal like this before - but as the voting is now underway, we’d like to share with you that our youngest son George http://members.enchantedfolk.com/whitedragonrider has entered the Orange Unsigned Act competition for Channel 4.
Here is the link to his page: http://orangeunsignedact.co.uk/acts/have_you_met_george
It would be great if you could help him by voting for his wonderful, original music.
You will need to sign up and then you'll be able to vote for him every day for the next week.
Please, please tell everyone you know to do the same for this talented lad, many of the others in the competition are much older and already have established fan bases (as opposed to a dedicated seventeen year old recording his songs from his heart and playing the piano or guitar in the kitchen!)
There are links to more of George Montague’s music on his Myspace, Facebook (and Enchanted Folk) pages on that site above too, have fun.
Don't be discouraged if your verification email doesn't arrive "right away" as the site says. Mine took 15 minutes. In the meantime check out the songs. :^)
You may have noticed, but just in case you haven't, I thought I should blog about changes in the 'mood and status' section of your site. We've had the emoticons for a while now and admitedly they are quite restrictive in descibing your mood but now you can also add, in your own words, your status. For example, my current status is 'feeling groovy', so please feel free to express yourself!
Have a great weekend!
I'm looking forward to meeting any of you who are in the UK on saturday June 21st for the first UK Merry Meet.
I would like very much to be your friend, Thank you. Still figuring out how this group works, so hang in there with me. Good to be thankful,so have a great day.
I thought it was right to mark the magical moment of reaching 1000 members on EF. I can only say how much Be and I are grateful to all of you. This place was always Be's vision - a gentle place where there is no one pressuring anyone, where the growth of membership would be organic, and people could just be themselves, and all of you have made it happen. This is THE ENCHANTED Social Network for people like us and I would like to THANK YOU ALL.
PS It's Be's birthday today and the fact that we reach 1000 members on her birthday is truly wonderful.
I've noticed the rate at which folks are joining seems to've picked up too... I can't help but wonder if we'll break twothou by the one year anniversary.
Monty mince pies being carefully counted now ~ or there won't be any left for Christmas, eh Drew... hmmm? Prince Charles sure does make a mean HRH Duchy one! (Oops, what am I saying *splutters* ours are all homemade of course ;o) It is also a given, that any such rationing in this house doesn't apply to meeee, mwahahahaha...
hi drew , that sounds kind of like my moms fruit cake. its a no bake cake made of dried fruits and made with whisky and its awesome!a true southern thing here in the states for sure
It wasn't long after my brother and I started reading "The Complete Sherlock Holmes" that A&E started re-running those BBC episodes on TV. We were spellbound. Actors don't usually replace the characters as I see them in my imagination, but Brett and Hardwicke will always be Holmes and Watson to us!
I've heard you have had a very nice birthday with lots of yummy cake!
I'll be another year older at the end of the month, too....
Best Happy Birthday wishes to you,
Susan
Very well put....thank you for pointing out all these perspectives. (Love your new profile picture, too)
