Location: Amongst the daisies in my Secret Garden
    Children: Proud Parent
    # of Kids: 2
    Body Type: Average
    Ethnicity: White / Caucasian
About Me: Im a lover of faeries, magical and romantically medieval things and nature, an animal lover, and I love to laugh, cherish rare moments of silence, and taking pictures of interesting things and nature. Im an artist of many, many, many mediums (at the moment, Im in love with making lampwork glass beads), love to walk, hike and just be in the midst of nature, listen to music, Im in love with ancient history (I wanted to be an archeologist when I was young), love to meditate, travel, sitting in my backyard in the spring, summer and fall, spend time with my dogs and family. My favorite time of year is autumn, but I love all seasons.
Music: Anything that lifts my soul, lights my heart, and makes me smile and want to dance.
Movies: That which has magical, and has an enchanting theme or quality to it. I also love romantic comedy, historical reproductions, fantasy, and action-adventure.
TV: When I do watch TV... its usually Sci-fi channel, Animal Planet, gardening and crafting shows, Big Brother, Amazing Race, The Tudors, Dexter, Discovery and History channel, but never all at the same time. ;)
Books: My books are like my children.... so I couldnt possible list them all (for sheer lack of space provided) and to not list them all would be a terrible shame since they are ALL very special and equally loved by me!
Likes: The smell of a newborn puppy's breath, fields of white daisies, the scent of lavender, and patchouli, my little granddaughter's laugh, memories of my mom and dad while I was going up, the beauty of nature, all animals and small children, the smell of roses in bloom, a gentle and loving caress, morning mist/fog as it settles on the ground, a soft kiss, people who care about others and are not afraid to allow themselves to love another human being (and even say "I love you") regardless of their gender, selfless acts of random kindness, my friends, dogs and family.
Dislikes: Mean, rude, ignorant, inconsiderate, arrogant people. Cruelty to animals and children, abuse to another human being or living thing, destruction of this beautiful planet, disrespect for nature and others, poverty and despair especially when we have the opportunity to help, hatefulness, dark energies, those who use (and discard) others for their own gain, people who are unable to accept others and are closed minded.
Hobbies: Lampworking (making glass beads), painting/drawing, photography, sewing, embroidery and applique, bead embroidery, card weaving, cloth painting, cooking/baking, RAOK (random acts of kindness), some gardening, carpentry, leatherwork... to name a few.
Vices: Spending money on glass rods and glass supplies, and bacon! It used to be smoking but I quit 6 mos ago. Yay for me!... and I only drink alcohol maybe 1 or 2 times a year.
Virtues: Im very loyal, the world's best "secret keeper", can do anything I set my mind to, passionate and compassionate, optimistic, still retain my child-like wonder, easy to please, trustworthy and dependable, friendly, courteous, and flirtacious.... and Im a forever hopeless romantic!
Heroes: My parents, those who stand up for what is right over what is popular, those who defend the weak, those who put themselves in harms way to save another, those who inspire and improve another's quality of life, those who believe and participate in (RAOK) random acts of kindness, my two wonderful sons and my husband.

    A Long Slumber.....

Wednesday, July 16, 2008, 01:00 PM CST [General]

    Greetings from my beloved garden...

Spring has come and gone, just as the Spring floods (terrible flooding) and the 4th of July celebrations, and Summer is upon us full force!  It has been really quite humid and hot as of late, and even now as I sit on my back porch writing.  But despite the heat and humidity, I feel blessed for beauty around me... and quite thankful for iced tea and the occasional cool breeze as well!

As I gaze around my garden, I see many new plants that I've never seen in my garden before, many of which could be considered "giants" if I were but a wee faery or elf.  I'm confident that most of them were planted when the house was built back in the Victorian era of 1907, yet they have laid domant for years, that is... until the spring rains came this past June and continued to rain for days, flooding everything!

Now they have come back to life after their long slumber, and many are quite colorful and pretty too!  Columbine, thistle, oak, and primrose reaching towards the sun while gently swaying in the summer breeze, and proving that if you open your eyes and heart, you will always find that something good can come from the worst circumstances!

Blessings to all, and a blissful summer!

    Garden Bliss

Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 01:35 PM CST [General]

    Warm Weather Greetings!

Im so happy to see that Mother Nature has opened her arms, and beckoning the wildflowers to bloom, and the faeries and woodland creatures to come out from hibernation to enjoy the warm of the sun, and to frolick and play!  Each morning Im greeted by dancing pink bleeding hearts and the graceful bobbing and bowing of the bearded iris!  Even my ancient white oak tree is rejoicing under the sun as its almost possible to see him stretch out his woody arms towards the sky and unfurling his leafy fingers.  Ive even noticed that patch at the base of the great white oak where the enchanted door lies, has been carefully cleared of debris as if someone had swept it in preparation of setting out the welcome mat.  It wasnt difficult at all to have myself a second cup of tea and spend a little more time sitting under the great white oak and enjoying the sights, smells and sounds!

Spring has indeed finally sprung, and life is quite busy in my little enchanted garden!

May you find peace, harmony and great joy in your garden!

    Bliss~

    Adventures among the Commons....

Saturday, April 19, 2008, 07:46 PM CST [General]

Its been a while since Ive posted, but Ive been away, and mostly occupied, with the day to day workings of making handcrafted things and selling them to travelers who happen upon my peddlers cart, and now that things have slowed down a wee bit.... I thought I would put out my campfire, pack up my trinkets and head back to the beloved little hovel that I call home!

Its a small place, but then Im a woman of a somewhat small stature (just tall enough as to milk my miniature goat without the need of a steeping stool), and its all Ive ever known and the place I look forward to when Im far, far away.

I managed to earn a few coins during my travels from hurried travelers who took pity on a small woman supposedly stranded all alone on such a long country road, and that was just about all there were these past couple weeks.... apparent strangers to these lands, traveling to or fro I could never determine, and always in such a hurry to get to the place they know nothing about.  Thank the heavens for my trusted goat, Oolie, who kept me company during these past weeks, and truly was a cherish companion.

But Im now home again, and enjoying a hearty bowl of stew by the warmth of an small yet comforting fire.... and the morrow I shall count my blessings, as well as my coins, and plan out my next adventure!

    Blissful blessings,

    Nikki/Whisperwillow
