I just went over to the Faerie Magazine website to do my monthly check on the postings, and to my dismay, I find that the boards are no longer there, replaced by a Blog page from the Faerie Magazine staff members. Now, I admit that the postings were becoming fewer and further between, with fewer people participating, but there really was a great deal of useful information and discussions that are now lost... (Sigh!) I do hope this isn't a sign that such a great Magazine may be fading away, especially since I just renewed my subscription for another two years.

I am sorry to hear that Faerie Magazine closed their forum! I never used it, but I think it's importuned for a magazine to communicate with the readers, and the people who contribute to the magazine. |

I can get to the forums. I just made a post there. |

I can't say my experience with that site has been a good one. Kim the editor for the magazine suggested to me that I engage myself in there forums as a way of networking with like minded people. This came about when I was seeking illustrators and further assistance in my quest to have my stories and poems published. I even went so far as to hand deliver around fifty or so of my earlier pieces for her to judge. I felt quite put off by her since I had to repeatedly contact her for her opinion. When I did follow through with her later sugestion and submitted my first piece, The March Fairy, it was deleted only a few days later along with my password and screen name. When she did finally return my e-mail, a feat she rarely performs, she said it was part of her attempts to rid the site of spam.
sleepyI must say I've been with there publication since it's first issue and even had a piece published in there third issue in Autumn 2005. My wife and I also recieved a great deal of help when we advertised with them under our D & D Fairy porcelain doll side buisness. So it was not like we were strangers which makes my attitude concerning the incident so strong. A simple e-mail to a loyal customer could have gone a long way. But as I've said she does not e-mail.
The silver lining after that was my immediate discovery of this site and all the wonderful and inspiring people that make it up.
As a contractor I know how important communication is and what it means to have a good relationship with your clients. If Faerie Magazine goes it will be because they never kept sight of this.
It is because of my experience with publishers, organizers, and other want-a-bes that I feel fortunate to have found a home here. I am thankful to all who take the time to read my silly sayings. I do hope Faerie Magazine does not go away. If it does it would be a shame.
