She Dreams In Color
How about first some art and then the update...ok
I started this painting last weekend on the Chinese new years eve. After getting the idea sketched out, I found out a dear friend passed away that day. I originally had planned dark colors for the scheme but after Mida's passing I knew I had to paint it in her colors. She was all about the colors found in the beautiful sunsets here in New Mexico. At The wake yesterday I found out that she had been dressed in her favorite RED top for her cremation. When I had sketched the painting I had put the color RED in her thought bubble for my owns reasons, at least that is what I thought. I know now my dear friend Mida was guiding me. This painting was very healing for me and after sharing stories of my dear friend all day, I somehow managed to finish the painting last night with tears in my eyes.
Now for an update. We went to the Mayo and we did get answers. My husband has developed another hernia in his lower abdomen. He had surgery back in September to repair the hernia that developed along his scar above his belly button. Now he will have to have surgery to repair the hernia bellow his belly button. We will be going back to the Mayo Clinic February 16 to meet with a general surgeon and to meet with a neuorsurgeon. Unfortunatley Matt is still having back problems so will be figuring out what is going on there. As of right now Matt's surgery has not been scheduled, he is under weight and has been told by the doctors that he will need to gain some weight before surgery. Sounds easy right, unless you throw up everyday like Matt. So we will see what the surgeon wants to do at our next visit. We will keep everyone posted.
Thank you to no end....to all of those who have leant their ears and hearts and offered support and love through these trying times.
We love you
Have Coma, Will Travel to the Mayo Clinic, and get better
I believe strongly in the power of the written and spoken words. To put it out there by using language is almost like casting a spell. My husband and I decided the next move for his health is to go to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. When I thought of our car trip going to and from the clinic and the journey in itself I remembered the name of our spot on the front page of Enchanted Folk "Have Coma, Will Travel" it was a weird since of oh yeah well we did say that would happen. So to help create a space in the universe for answers and putting all this mess behind us my new title for our blog is "Have Coma, Will Travel to the Mayo Clinic, and Get Better"
We will be at the clinic starting January 13th. Please keep us in your thoughts. Matt has been sick for months now having stomach problems from the emergency surgery. All of the doctors in our area are either afraid to treat him or clueless to what is wrong. We are both anxiously awaiting the visit to Scottsdale.
On another note I am still sneaking moments for art. I have been doing a lot of work similar to the following image titled "Yu-Me" I will be creating a whole line of images that were born from my latest sketchbooks. They are just plain fun and a little dark, kinda like me.
Also as promised a sister painting to my earlier work titled "Pulling Me" below is "Sucking Me". She has tentacles in her hair!
Hope you enjoy them, I would love to know how you all feel about "Yu-Me".
The White Rabbit and the Queen
I have managed to sneak some studio time in. Duirwaigh Gallery is having a Wonderland show starting tomorrow. I have painted a couple of paintings specifically for the show and they will also have some seen and previously unseen works of mine for sale. I hope you all stop by the website www.duirwaighgallery.com and check out the amazing show. The list of great artist in the show is phenomenal, it should bring lots of smiles!

Exercise your imagintaion
I can't help it but sometimes I get into a bit of a mood when I can't paint. It has been a strugle to find the time with so much going on with Matt's recovery. I have taken to drawing in bed before sleep, it has been good exercise for my imagination. I did manage to paint a new beauty. She was one of those gems that came together with ease and I completed her within one day. The title is "Pulling Me" I hope you enjoy her. I plan to do two more with similar "symbolisim".
