Is it all down hill from here?

I never once dreamed I'd ever make it to 40, it seemed ancient. Yet, here I am counting down the months til I join the next decade.

A couple days ago I pulled something in my back and now everything else seems to be falling apart as well. Is this what I have to look forward to?

Every breath I take makes me wince with pain and walking down the stairs has to be the absolute worst. I walk around oohing and ahhing like an old granny.

I initially started my 39th birthday in December with the attitude I was going to be happier, healthier and more adventurous in my 40's. I made a list of things I wanted to do and accomplish before I hit the big 40.

Here it is now nearly 1/3 of the year gone, my body is falling apart and all those dreams of sky diving, learning Karate and how to Salsa are nearly out the window.  Now I'm just hoping and praying I wake up without a back ache or hoping one of my knees doesn't blow out on me.

Is it all down hill from here?

That depends on what your definition of "down hill" is...physical...well maybe, at 45, I have alot to the ailments you do,and no, I'm not what I was in my 20's or even my 30's....But mentally, and artistically, and spiritually, and emotionally...I get better everyday...and you will to. Hang in there!!! It will get better.

Myself, I was sort of looking forward to 'downhill' -- less energy expended, climbing being much harder. But then, my health problems began 30 years ago, so I've become 'accustomed' to the aches and pains. But age is just a number -- you don't have to accept it. Yes, my body's been around for more than five and a half decades, but inside my head, I'm still twenty...

And that you've obviously pulled a muscle in your back doesn't mean it will stay that way. Eight years ago, I was told I'd always be in a wheelchair. Today I walked five miles before breakfast...

    Awwww Tam !
I'm 54--will be 55 Dec 17th ---and yeh, we gets a few aches and such...but hey---look at cars and other "machines"! They's be very lucky to age as well and long as WE do, you think?
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WitchesofPalmBeach/ I had my spine cut open 3 months ago & the recuperation has been astoundingly SLOWwwwwwwwwwww....the 1st 2-4 weeks I was literally crawling on my hands & knees just to go from the bed to the bathroom ...
And all my life, like a typical Triple Sagittarian, I've been a semi-pro water skiier, surfer, ice hockey and roller hockey player, as well as gymnast and runner and martial artist, and on and on and on ~ soooooooooo....to come into :THIS" realm is hard on the spirit, as you're seeing---but it's all up to our perception..........
We seldom can change people , places, or things outside us---but we CAN change our perceptions INSTANTLY ..........
As Ghandi said about being imprisoned in a 8 X 4 foot cell for many years---"they cannot imprison my spirit" .........
And also, we, as magical beings work well with "intent" & "outcome", don't we ...????????

    Love & Warmth ~~~
